Has this ever happened to you?

I’ve never had this happen to me before - have you? It was our final meal before leaving this pretty little Greek island where I’ve been sojourning this past few weeks. I ordered Moussaka and it arrived, all hot and rich and luscious. Two woman came and sat at the table next to ours and they pointed to Moussaka on the menu and the waiter tried to explain what it was. He had Greek and English; they had neither. Exasperated he pointed at my plate and the women turned round to examine my food. They felt awkward, I felt awkward. Then the waiter whipped my plate away from under my nose mid-forkful and stuck it under the noses of my fellow diners, pointing at it and yelling “very, very tasty”. And he was not wrong. Eventually my dinner was returned to its rightful owner, but by then I noticed a sharp smell hanging in the air, a bit like the burning stench given off when a dentist is drilling away at a rotted tooth. I realised soon that this was neither a food nor a dental problem - the man on my other side was breaking wind quite sharply and didn’t seem able to dampen either noise nor pungency. All humanity had to throw at me in an evening meal.

I think both the waited and the gas editing gas were quite rude. I would have to open my mouth and say something.

If there are "ways to ruin a dinner", your experience would win the first prize unless there is absolutely worse situations than this. Any thing worse than this , do not think anyone will have dinner. I should apprecitae your patience for going these hurdles and have the dinner. Most would call it a day and move on. Personally, I do not think I would continue in those situations. In fact , that would have the last time I visited the place and would have given a bad review. Sometimes such experiences ruin the whole good trip or vacation. Well, kudos for withstanding against the odds!
