The End Game?

Life goes on as usual, with challenges galore—overcoming them gives us moments of relief. For a few, death is a reality that hangs over them constantly. The rest are left in peace if they think of the world as of now as the reality we have to live with. In the news today is one that is reported matter-of-fact - NATO and Russia are preparing for a nuclear conflict. It does not matter who pulls the trigger. The world as we know it will be history. North Korea's Kim is also very angry to the extent he wants to obliterate South Korea and take on the US with whatever weapons in his possession. War seems to be the ultimate solution. That is a reality for us from time immemorial but we now have weapons that can destroy and take us back to the Stone Age. Our leaders lead us to the brink and even beyond. Cannot they think of a solution before a holocaust rather than after pulling the trigger? Problems come with solutions. But when we are led by those who go by ego and greed, the rest will pay the ultimate price. The bottom line is the will of the majority - to be left in peace - is trampled upon by the hatred spewed by our supposed leaders. They belittle the consequences of their actions. When Rome is burning, Nero is fiddling! It is far worse now. Image - Nuclear Bomb from Pixabay free image

And we think we are at the apex of creation and lord over other species. But we are at the bottom when it comes to understanding the consequences of our actions. What a legacy we will leave behind then.

@anya12adwi Then the creator can reboot the entire system And our wings could well be clipped with us reporting to a big boss right here. Let us not blow our chances and lose it all.

Hopefully I'll be gone before the world blows apart but it's very worrying.

@Shiva49 People have had their worlds blown apart. They must find it hard to see any sort of future for themselves.

@Shiva49 I can understand that some would think that. It's so sad to hear of all but one or two of extended families being wiped out. What hope would you have left?

Yes, picking up the pieces is not for the faint of heart. We see that in some parts of the world daily.

As greedy and ruthless as they may be, l doubt the leaders would want to obliterate themselves and familes and also give up all hope of becoming a superpower. With nuclear power already in the hands of more than one, if there is a 3rd world war its goodbye to the world.

I think of The Boy Who Cried Wolf, one of Aesop’s fables. With some leaders we have, it can be like - Did he jump, or was he pushed? In either case, the consequences are horrendous.

Humans never learn from mistakes. Can you think of a time when there are no war/disputes, big or small?

Agreed, but the problem is some have weapons to destroy the world. The suffering will be those who are left behind. They will face hell when our creator blessed us with heaven to start with.

99% probability that nothing will happen. North Korea Kim wants to show all his antics as people in the country are fed up with his rule. He is using this as a diversion. He knows that by showing such antics , he can survive or buy time so that people of his country do not think otherwise. He will not go to war with South Korea or US, because he very well knows thats the end of their dynasty and North Korea would then be reunified! . Russia and NATO , again beatdowns and trash talking will be there. Both sides has nothing to gain and has eveyrthing financially to lose. They would not want to take that risk unless there is substantial to gain. I agree that our leaders at times lead us to brink and beyond. Unfortunately we are responsible for same directly or indirectly. For now, drumbeats and chestbeats will continue but nothing to happen!

The danger is ever-present. The Doomsday clock is 90 seconds to midnight - never been closer than that. Kim has been firing missiles that fall into the sea. Any miscalculation can cause them to land in Japan or other nearby countries. The world almost turns a blind eye when the killings happen "far away". They will be taken as par for the course in other places when it becomes the order of the day. War is taken as something that we cannot prevent but when countries threaten each other with nuclear weapons, things can get beyond a point of return. That 1% you mention is enough to change our world from heaven to hell. After each world war, we had The League of Nations and the United Nations respectively. The latter has been made irrelevant with big powers overriding it. A few get away with murder and that is ominous foreboding for the world.

We don't live forever but our actions do, especially if they affect the world on a very large scale. So I hope the leaders will be very careful in their decisions. So far the nuclear threat has been a decent deterrent but I hope a better option can be found, because the current one feels very uneasy to say the least.

I hope it stays as a foolproof deterrent. But there is always a possibility they could fall into the "wrong hands". It is already happening. Ironically, we have not progressed at all from our prehistoric mentality in terms of coexistence. Hatred and intolerance are everywhere.

@Shiva49 Yeah, it's like looking at children playing with dangerous toys. At least cavemen only had clubs and sticks.

Yes, the majority writ does not run. We are mere pawns in the hands of the evil, who seem to have the upper hand and can dictate their agendas.

After the mayhem and mindless cruelty, there is a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah. We have to coexist - why did this realization not exist before? Ukraine and Russia - with more powerful weapons increasingly. Then the peace initiative and ceasefire. History repeats endlessly.

I think of Neil Gaiman, an English author of fantasy, horror, science fiction, and more "The world is always ending, and the end is always averted, by love or foolishness or just plain old dumb luck". I hope the luck holds forever along with love or foolishness or whatever.

The end game also has a few hidden master players, and so the creator might show his hand at some stage if a nuclear holocaust is about to happen. Maybe Putin will have a heart attack, and die, for example. These power-hungry despots need to be curtailed and put back away from power, and pushed aside by a wave of love instead, and it is hoped that some saviour type of a person might still step up to the plate, and start batting for all the followers, who cannot challenge the Putins of this world on their own.

@Shiva49 I wonder if the aliens will be robotic automatons, or will have feelings, and love, in them too. If they are despots, power-hungry, conquerers, we might be in for an even nastier ride, in future times too. We need to learn to cooperate here, live peacefully, but be ready for anything, as often anything might happen.

@innertalks Stephen Hawking warned us not to go overboard in attracting the attention of aliens as they could enslave us and force us to do their bidding. The only saving grace would be we could unite to fight them tooth and nail. Good sense will then dawn on us but hopefully not too late! It is better now to sit across a table to resolve petty disputes that can lead to a full-blown nuclear war.

A few believe UFOs are ready to step in. Their presence is increasingly felt especially near nuclear sites! It looks like we are drowned in intolerance. Our minds find new avenues to go at each other's throats. Politics has sunk into hatred and hypocrisy and love is an afterthought in those who decide our fate.
