Someone I know has been ghosting me.
That means they have shut me out, pretended I don't exist, and never talked to me. If I message, they don't answer. I have been pleasant to this person and don't know why she is doing that.
Has anyone ever ghosted you? How does it make you feel? What do you do about it? Why do people do that?

Yes, many! If anyone ghosts me, I literally get into ghost mode and don't think about them further!

@anya12adwi She is my son's fiancee. He is crazy in love with her. They have been together for seven years but she always threatens to kick him out.

@akalinus If you are romantically involved, then yes! It will take time to move on! Otherwise not!

@akalinus He resents me. I was the family "hero." A couple of reasons that come to mind. People ghost those they are jealous of. People ghost those they perceive themselves as "owing something to." But I am sure there are many other reasons.

I didn't know the meaning of what ghosting is. But when you explained it in your second paragraph it's then only I came to know about it.
Yeah, I have been ghoasted and I should accept that very broadly. And those people wear my school classmates. And a couple of them actually did this. I I am not sure if they did this on purpose or if they were just playing a prank with me. But yes that was what happened with me. But it was during my school days. And things are left behind back then.

@akalinus To be honest it was only later that I came to know that I was being ghosted. I didn't realise during that "ghosting process" that this particular thing was happening with me. Because I took it casually and I didn't even think that my friends would do such a thing to me. But now when I look back and see that incident, I feel very funny about it. And yes, no grudges against anyone.

@abhi_bangal We do get busy and sometimes don't realize that someone is missing from our lives. Kid are immature and their brains are not fully formed so they don't think about the other person.

i've had it happen before. It doesn't bother me. People have their reasons and while I may never know why, I need to respect that. If they want to talk to me, they will.

@akalinus Sounds like she needs help, but she can't get it unless she wants it.

@kaylachan This is true. She says she does. They give her meds that help. Then she decides she doesn't need them. Then she is out of control.

Yes I've been ghosted and it's frustrating not knowing why all of a sudden someone just disppears.

This kind of reminds me of my husband's family. They act like hubby and I aren't married- not sure why but there it is. Almost 46 years and we're not married????? His nieces refuse to talk with him now. I don't understand but oh well.

Hey, I have a Copyright on that headline! I just called someone who has been ghosting me. It turned out it was a generational thing. Young people (those in their 30s) text (and sometimes receive calls) but do not check their emails. Sigh. We have a great telephone conversation.

Anytime you can connect with someone is a good time. I am old, but sometimes I go weeks without going through my email. I just glance at it to see if my brother sent any messages and ignore the rest.
Sometimes, I go in and delete thousands of emails.

She accuses me of stuff. She said I stole her over-the-counter medications, two packages of them. She was calling me all sorts of names over text messages. She found her medications had fallen off the shelf and were behind the air fryer—no apology from her. I never know what is next.

Yes I was...once. It's a long story; but I was upset about it. I tried contacting the person; but she didn't answer. Have a good day.

@Shivram59 That is but I think it might work. The neighbors may wonder why I am outside tossing stones, though.

@akalinus I'm telling you what you should do to catch her.Pick a stone from the road and simulate throwing it at her. There the story will end. We had done it to a beggar who was pretending to be blind.

I haven't been ghosted but I have ghosted someone. I didn't want to, my (now ex) husband had a major issue with me having any male friends, but especially my best friend.
Too bad for him though because after our divorce I got back in touch with my best friend and now we've been married for 10 years.
