A female homeowner who lives in Poulsbo Washington has been feeding raccoons that came to be fed for 35 years which was no problem at first. But the female homeowner had to call the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) to come and get rid of the raccoons which on Monday October 7 reached around 100 animals that wanted to be fed by the homeowners. The homeowner was asked by several persons to place a trap for the raccoons and relocate them for the price of around $500 dollars but she refused to take up the offer. The homeowner was able to contact the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife to remove the raccoons from her property. Hopefully the homeowner will learn her lesson not to feed raccoons from now on since even though she meant well in feeding raccoons, it became too her to handle in the long run. They seem to multiply rather quickly. Hope all goes well for both.

Kitty and I are nice to our local raccoons, and sometimes "share" our food. But we do have our boundaries.

That is my family rule to only serve food to stray cats and squirrels on a limited basis.

@Deepizzaguy The raccoons here help themselves when nobody is looking.

Wild animals catch on quickly if someone starts feeding them.

That is true since there are a bunch of stray cats that come to the front lawn to get fed cat food.

What did she expect? Raccoons know a good food source when they see it.

I guess some people when they get older do not realize that some animals will eat free food when they see it.

I agree with you since when my relatives and myself make donations to charities, they make requests in the mail for more donations monthly.

I put the cat food up every night because I don't want the critters looking for handouts.

Disney really promoted racoons. They are very pretty animals but they also eat meat. Chickens are their favorite and they also are vicious. I know from personal experience though one of my brothers had a pet racoon named Charley.

My Mom and step-dad owned a zoo for years. They retired and sold the zoo. But my Mom loves animals, and she started putting out dog/cat food for strays. She ended up having a deer stop by, A fox stopped in a couple of times, and then the Raccoons! She thought they were sooo cute. Well..they went on a trip to a Rattlesnake Rodeo, and when they came back...the raccoons had ripped the roof away from the chimney, and tried to get into the house because all the food was gone. My stepdad banned feeding any animals! Sooo my mom quit putting food out, but she had some peanuts and saw a squirrel, and of course tossed the peanut to the squirrel. The squirrel would watch for her to come outside, and she would call him and he came to get his pearnut. I was there one day at Peanut Time, and she didn't go outside to give him a peanut...he came up to the sliding glass window and tapped on the glass to get his peanut. LOL When they eventually moved...my stepdad told my Mom that she could not feed the animals, and this time she didn't...bad neighborhood anyways. LOL

I know that feeling since my sister feeds stray cats outside everyday.

There are no raccoons in my area; they'd be an invasive species so it's a good thing, but at the same time they're so cute and I wish I had them. I didn't know they were like pigeons, where you feed one and later you got an army. Feeding them all would be too much indeed, not to mention how faster diseases would spread, but look at all that cuteness! Oh my!
