Do you adjust well after a holiday?

When the trip is over and you’ve brought a lot of memories back with you and a lot of sand between your toes, do you just transition back into normal life and get on with it? I do, but this time I’ve returned feeling despondent and very dissatisfied. My wife’s the same. Winter’s drawing in with its dark nights and miserable weather, and this town we’ve moved to is particularly dismal in winter. It’s not pleasant thinking about the prospect of so many months here before another trip. I may sound ungrateful and fussy, and I’ve considered all the possibilities regarding plan A which was to retire to France, but we just can’t get it to work. So I’m stuck here, hoping for something better, and until something better comes along I’ll try not to bring everyone else down with my moaning.

I suppose no-one wants to house-swap in your winter but what about house-sitting on the continent? It might be harder with three though.

@judyev That’s one of the things I’m looking into, remembering that you did it. My wife wants one that includes cat sitting and I found a couple in Paris. Need a house that can accommodate 3 as you say.

@xFiacre Once you get started it's nearly all word of mouth.

If it was a great trip , my suggestion would be write about it or share a video about it. Living in the memories of trip and not happy with your current life , does not help any. You had a great time and great times will also come. The best part is you can relive those moments by doing video or writing about it. At the same time, work through your current challenges. You may not like some of your current things but do not have to hate them. Definitely all your desires would work out. Personally, after a trip , my return journey isabout thinking about the trip and closing the chapter there even if it is good or bad. It helps me to enjoy my current life even if it has thousand obstacles and challenges. Well, you have a great day and weekend!

You can’t find anything positive about where you live in winter?

@ambiepam not really, pretty miserable and dismal - or maybe I’m just feeling sorry for myself.

I can totally understand your letdown...especially when it includes leaving a warmer climate. I hope you can work something out to move to France. Have a good weekend.
