10/18/24 - Update On My Husband

The 4-1/2 star place that we were hoping to get my husband into has declined his residency. They said they cannot provide the care that he needs! The social worker is going to try and find out what the problem is. The other place that she could try to get him into has 4 stars but is further than I would like. There is a decent place closer; but the social worker said that the food is awful. Will keep you updated.
His new walker came yesterday. This one has wheels which he prefers plus it has handholds in the front which can be used to get up from a sitting position.
He saw 3 doctors yesterday...one was a heart doctor...but he forgot to ask about the results of his heart ultrasound and doesn't know the doctor's name. I'll see what I can find out.
I spoke with the appeals office yesterday and have completed the appeals form. Now a lot of copies must be made and several packages/envelopes of printed material must be prepared for mailing. My hubby's 2nd cousin will be helping with that.

It's good that he had tests and saw some doctors, now you need to know the results of the tests...hopefully you can find out today. I also hope the social worker can find him a good place.

@MarieCoyle - It would be better to talk personally to the doctors, he may be confused and cannot remember.

Yes, I will have to ask the nurses which doctor it is and either have him call me or get his number.

It seems to me that the place he was in cannot be on the list because that said they couldn’t treat him any further. Just what it seems to me. Have they told you what types of care he needs? And have I mentioned calling the VA lately….

The 4-1/2 star place says he needs long term care; and they don't have any long term care beds available. To get VA assistance I need to fill out the paperwork that I have; and Mr. Ohio doesn't want me to do that.

@LindaOHio Oh, well if they accept im, maybe that can be his new homeaway from home. You do need to get with the doctor and find out what is going on though.

I am going to guess that the place considers him high risk. He had been in rehab for months, and apparently hasn't inproved enough. Plus, unless his heart is controled either with a pace maker or chimically, some places just don't want the libility as therapy can be higly sternious.

They said they think he's going to be long term; and they don't have any long term beds available.

@kaylachan Well, he fell on February 1, was in and out of the hospital...he was gone for 8 months, most of it in rehab.

I hope you can find out the results of the tests talking with the doctor. Hope the social worker finds him a safe place. If a place is good to their patients but food is iffy, maybe a special diet can be ordered and keep some Mrs. Dash or other available to him to dress up. Most have to make it saltless so will be bland.

with trying to get him in a decent place to take care of him
