Fresh Pineapple

The other day I bought a fresh pineapple because it was cheaper that it used to be. Only 1.50€ instead of €3. So I cut off the skin and sliced the fruit.
While eating, it tasted as if something was lacking. Yes, it was mild sweet but instead of putting sugar in it before eating, I added salt. I sprinkled salt before every bite of the pineapple slices. Yummy!
My hubby was looking strange at me. Oh, yes. I have a Filipino taste. We mostly put salt in every fruit that we eat.
How about you? How do you eat your pineapple? With salt, sugar or nothing at all?
Thanks for reading. Have a nice day/night.

Adding salt to a pineapple is a first for me. But here I have read about people adding sugar to avocados and for me avocados go with salt and even hot pepper. I´ll try your concoction next time.

@Dreamerby Some people make sweet drinks with avocados. Not here not in South America.

@marguicha Oh. But that's ironic. Avocados are costly. We have them for health benefits. And to add unhealthy sugar to avocados is like a hate crime. Its like having pizza with a topping of chia seeds!
Lol

Sugar is actually not considered healthy. So won't add it on avocados

We immerse sliced pineapple in salt solution for a while before eating them, because salt solution can prevent allergic reaction to the bromelaine.

I didn’t know that @changjiangzhibin89. Thanks for the information. Maybe that is why I like it with salt.

I have tried pineapple with salt and chilli flakes, they taste awesome. But for any fruit, I prefer it the natural way without any added salt or sugar. I love fruits and I have a weak spot for yummy juicy pineapple, my second most favourite after mangoes.

I never thought of sprinkling salt on pineapple. I usually don't add anything.
My grandpa would eat cucumbers with salt. Now I know it might not be a fruit, but fresh cucumber is like watermelon, same family too I think.

@Dreamerby I never thought of sprinkling salt on a fruit salad, but on other salads, definitely. Unless I add some sauce.

No, I would never salt a pineapple. We eat way too much salt here. I am not going to put it on something that tastes delicious as is, like a pineapple.

Okay. That’s a matter of taste. I am not fond of salty food though. Thank you and have a nice weekend @snowy22315

I prefere sugar to salt. The pineapple slices help the sugar to melt and that juice is yummy

I would sometimes add salt to bring out the sweetness of the pineapple. Now, I'm craving pineapples! I haven't had fresh ones for quite a while.

@Dreamerby Probably a few months back, and I had the canned pineapples. I miss the fresh ones that they would serve in the restaurant.

What a deal. I like to eat pineapples but in moderation because it inflammes in the tongue. I have to do mylot , online paid surveys and chat with chatmates online.

Yes, it was. It hurts my tongue too when I ate a lot of pineapple. So, I am always careful and mind myself not to eat much. Thank you @cabuyogty.

I love it also with salt. And I have to start eating it now because I am getting fat, but I know I can do this, I can stop myself from eating too much.
