Sometimes life just isn't what we want

Hello folks, I have a photo of 1 of my oldest dogs that past away 3 yrs ago & she was my fun dog we took lots of walks & she loved the water, & she went with us just about everywhere we went. We got the other 5 dogs after we moved from Fla in 08, 1st was our Aussie-shadow "husband's dog" then we ended up getting my pit bull (coke) he was our guard dog after we got broken into, then we got (jet) Red merle Aussie male, he mated shadow & my 1st female (photo) charmon my boarder collie. Both females had pups at the same time, That gave us 18 puppies OMG! that was very unexpected but we got them raised & kept 1 of the pups as our own. That was Shasta- female Aussie, then Charmon got mated Again & she had a liter of another 9 pups & I kept 1 of hers & raised it (Brutus) he's still going. Then after we had moved from a place down the road from where we are now we had 6 dogs which we had to make pens for to keep them contained cause there were too many strays wondering about. So we made 3 long 10x30 runners for 3 of the dogs & the other 3 were made into house/outside dogs & that turned out great being 2 where living with me in the cabin & 1 was living with my husband in the trailer, well fast forward 15 yrs later life changed & everything went upside down a complete 180 on us. I got sick was in the hosp for 5 mons & came home had to live with husband till I could recover & we were working on remodeling the cabin while I was recovering Things just weren't going too great with getting it going. Time went by from winter to this winter on our door step we start losing 1 after another 1st was jet then Shasta & we just lost Coke the other day, life just isn't exciting. It's so quite around here without the 3 dogs I'm use to hearing bark everytime they seen me, It's so quite in the cabin without Coke & Shasta in here wanting to be right under my table while I was on the computer B-4 I call it a day, it's so strange to not have your babies around anymore. We just (last yr) made a auto water system for the 1's in the 3 pens & had to redo it after the tree people came & took out all our trees a few mons after I got back home from the hospital. The doggie door we put in the cabin I miss hearing it everytime they went in or out so I will be taking it out & blocking that up now. The bags of dog food we have in the shed we won't be buying as many as we were where we were buying 4-50lb bags will be like 2 now cause I look for shadow to be next. Then that will leave us 2 dogs left & after they are gone, that will be the end of having anymore pets for us, we have had our time with the dogs we loved & lost in life. So how do you go on in life without them being around & still keep going in life ?

I am so sorry, Gayle. That's a great picture. I still miss the dog we had back in the 70s and beyond.. You never get over losing a fur baby. We don't have dogs anymore; and we decided we are too old to have them. I would hate to die, not knowing who would take care of our dogs. Try and have a good day.

@2ndchances24 I miss having dogs so much; but when my husband's 2nd cousin comes over, she brings her Pomeranian who immediately jumps into my lap. That helps.

"I would hate to die, not knowing who would take care of our dogs. " that's where we are in deciding not to have any more after the last 3 are gone.

You go one step at a time and one day at a time. You do not quit missing them, but you have all the funny memories.

That's what we're trying to do while we put all the time we can in the cabin getting what needs to be done done, being their not here anymore.

If we lost our pet dogs, we will surely have another young ones. In my family, we cannot live without one or two. At present, we have two chihuahuas at home and the other two at my younger brother's workplace.

@2ndchances24 I agree with you. Since I am still single and not married in the future, a dog or two can be my companion.

@Shavkat Just remember they age 1 human yr to 7 dog yrs So every year they turn 7 yrs older to our 1 year, & they are the best companion a person can have till they get up in age. The bigger the dog the faster they can pass away & that's the hardest part of owning a pet then there's the part of vet visits for regular check up's & shots & if they get sick. Last is the price of dog food & treats & toys, & all the attention they need every day in walks & exercise they need which means a good size fenced yard to play in.

Yeah but at some point in life you have to have the understanding that we have to learn it's in their best interest to live without them when we get too old to care for them & not leave them B-hind when OUR time comes close to pass away.

I could not live without at least one cat, I now have two but of course, they are young cats so I guess we will live together for some time still down the line,

Cats are way different than dogs, That's why we don't need or want any more animals to care for where they hold us back if we want to go to FLA or somewhere long distance or in the hosp.

Pets are like family; we miss them so much when they pass away. We go through all the stages of sorrow and depression until we reach acceptance that they have gone, and only pleasant memories are left. Something you pointed out with your photo.

Yes that they are, they were a big part of ours being it's just the 2 of us that took care of them.
