Bargains at the Book Barn

I did a bit more decluttering the other day and gave my sister-in-law two boxes of items that I didn’t want to keep. I also made some chocolate slice (bar-type cookies) for her to sell. After we had dropped the bits and pieces off, we went to the ParaQuad Book Barn. This is a huge ‘barn’ of used books. Proceeds from the sale of the books goes to the paraplegic/quadriplegic charity which raises money for research and care of those afflicted with paralysis of some kind. The hardcover books and non-fiction have a price pencilled inside the cover but the vast majority of books are $2 each. We happened to score a sale day and got fiction books for $1 each. We spent about $13 and came home with eight books. Next thing I’ll need will be more bookshelves! The photo shows some of the bookshelves in our house.

I have to get rid of a lot of books. All our shelves are overloaded and we run out of space. Your bookshelves look a lot like the IKEA Billy.

@JudyEv Where I grew up there was a huge book store that was known for being a used bookstore, I loved it. A whole city block and multiple stories.

I like book sales, however, I feel guilty if I buy anymore books.

I'm afraid mine don't get cleaned. Occasionally I dust along the front edges but that's about it.

@judyev Why do we always reward ourselves with more clutter when we de-clutter?

It seems in some people's psyche that empty spaces must be filled.

Our local used bookstore closed a couple years ago. To me, there is nothing like holding a book in one’s hands.
