How do you feel about unisex items?

So I’m being sent a fragrance to test and review that is considered unisex. I generally don’t like unisex items, although often things like, say, winter scarves can look good on either gender, in my opinion. Fragrances though, strike me as different. I usually detect more of a masculine smell when presented with a unisex cologne/perfume. I want to keep an open mind though. What is your opinion on things marketed to be suitable for either gender?

I am not sure too many cologne's perfumes etc. really fall into that category. I am not sure I would want to use that scent. Scarves can probably be unisex at least some. Others are simply reserved for females/males though in my opinion.

Clothes are one thing. I can buy T shirts and sweaters that are unisex. But a perfume is different. I like a perfume that makes me feel attractive and womanlike for me. I wear one such perfume once in a great while. It has to be for a very special occation.

@AmbiePam A bottle of perfume lasts me a very long time because I only use it for special occations. But my perfume is feminine and expensive.

I am drawn more towards floral scents, and as a result I wouldn't enjoy wearing a man's cologne. I could wear some men's clogs, they are something that is unisex and just offers different sizes.

I have a feeling this unisex fragrance they are sending me to test is going to be a one and done thing. I don’t want any kind of masculine scent lingering on me or my clothes. The clogs are a great example of something that would work.

@AmbiePam I know of a few women with big feet, and need wide width shoes, that wear men's running shoes and casuals.

I didn't know they made unisex fragrances. You'll have to let us know what you think of it when you get it.

I got it today, and I think it smells like someone has been on the beach putting suntan lotion on. Kind of like coconut oil maybe? It’s not awful, but I’d never wear it normally. I’m not quite sure how I’m going to expound on that in a review.

I didn't know there were unisex fragrances. Although I do wear mens deodorant most of the time. Because its cheaper.

I cannot think of any fragrances that are considered Unisex. Back when I worked a cosmetics and fragrance counter in a large discount store, Jovan made fragrances with a "for him" version and a "for her" version. I usually liked the "for him" better, even on me. To tell the truth I often prefer men's fragrances. Neither of us really wear fragrance though.

I wear Happy by Clinique usually. Solely because the commercial for it years ago made my heart smile. It was a bunch of people old school dancing by themselves in 40s garb in black and white to Judy Garland’s song, “Get Happy”. Luckily, it also smells great!

If we are to gift someone in a Christmas party exchange gift I would rather buy a unisex item, so whoever get my gift it doesn't matter; a boy and a girl can use it.

I think mostly it would be a perfume that hints at being either masculine or feminine. Most other things don't bother me.

unisex things are fine. but nowadays people don't even care if something's labeled as unisex or not. people wear what they want and what they like i've smelled only one unisex perfume and it confused me because i thought it's women's.

A lot of unisex products are OK; but I can't see a unisex fragrance. Have a good day.

I am open to unisex items as long as it serves my taste and interests. However, I do agree that at items certain products tend to favour one of the genders rather than for both. I do not fragrance is an area where we can have unisex products. Fragrance interests for men and women usually are different and thats my opinion. I do agree items like combs , hair colour , shampoos or similar could be unisex and can be used by both. For product testing, you should give your honest opinion . Like you I do keep an open mind when it come sto trying new items including unisex. Sometimes, it helps in finding great things. You have a great day ahead!

I love green tea as unisex fragrance, while I'm not familiar with other scents. Yes, not very feminine but at least it makes me feel younger, like a child, less of a lumberjack. Feminine perfumes, on the other hand, often make me feel like a femme fatale. Which I don't mind, it just depends on what I'm wearing and where I'm going.
