Santol: The Sweet and Sour Tropical Wonder Santol is sometimes called the "wild mangosteen." Although the fruit is more popular in the Philippines, it has a round, golden exterior that houses a juicy, pulpy flesh with a sweet and sour taste that makes it unique. The soft, white flesh clings to large seeds, and it's mostly savored fresh, or used in traditional Filipino dishes like sinantolan or santol jam. This fruit has everything. It is a delicious fruit and nutritious, packed with vitamins, fiber, and antioxidants. This is why people like it. Filipinos have always enjoyed the right mix of being sweet and sour; they love santol during its peak season as an all-time favourite snack. Have you ever tried santol? Do you prefer eating it fresh or using it in a savory dish?

Actually it is my first time to see this fruit. It looks a little bit like mangosteen but it's not.

It is sour and tasty, and it's nice to put with a salt and spice sauce. Mangosteen is sweeter, and there's no need to put a sauce.
