Why is it that so many men just cannot do this one simple task?

What is it, you say... Well, it's a hard one, for sure. If you really work at training the guy, you MIGHT occasionally have some success. However, I have come to the conclusion that most men are simply clueless--they have NO idea how to change the empty toilet paper roll. Not a single clue. You can put the new roll right where they can reach it to put it on the roller thingy. Handy, right? Yes, for them. That way when the roll on the roller thingy is gone, they can simply reach for the new roll of TP, right? Yep. That's right. They reach for it, they use it, and they put it right back where they found it--and the empty cardboard tube is still on the roller thingy, because...well, that would require great thought and effort on their part? They would have to remove the empty tube, throw it away, and then actually put the new roll on. Evidently, that's just a lot of work. Too much work for many males...maybe they consider it ''women's work?'' I have no idea. If you are a guy, and you do this, keep it up. As long as you want to do this, remember it makes us ladies crazy, and crazy does occasionally get paid back. In spades. pinterest picture

I get frustrated with women who don't know how to leave the toilet seat up so their husbands can honor their wives and piss in the dark without waking them up or making splashes everywhere.

Despite me being one who always lifts the seat and closes it when I am done, I have always wondered, if it makes me a jerk for not putting the seat down does it not make the person who doesn't look before they sit an idiot? I have never gotten a clear answer on this, but I usually duck when I ask the question. lol

@porwest Because those that need it are probably trying to be quiet, not turn on the light, and let you rest while they are literally fumbling around in the dark trying to get the bathroom trip over with...I wouldn't ever question this again if I were you...the frying pan may come out!

You wouldn't last long here...it's an unwritten rule, the toilet seat goes down as soon as you are done using it. That is one rule I managed to teach the kids, AND the ex.

I thought from the title you were going to say why can’t they put the toilet seat down. But you are so right about the toilet paper issue!

It makes me so frustrated. It's obvious it goes on the roller thingy, but it's just too much work for them, I guess.

I know how you feel. I have that happen here. I am a person who thinks ahead and I just think that a lot of people don't. They live in the moment and don't see what is to come until they are up against it.

I must have the only man in the world who actually tought me how to change the roll. Even now, post-stroke that's something George routinely does in our half bath. I don't have to say a word. Often he'll ask me for a roll for him to replace. George used to love doing it all. So if he'll do something that simple, a task I almost never have to do, then I am happy.

My husband always replaces the toilet roll when empty. He also does half of the house cleaning. That is because we are both retired.

I am a guy who not only always replaces the roll, I maintain the holders AND always put the rolls on with sheets facing with the top down hotel style. I even close the toilet lid and raise the seat when I use the bathroom. Can I have my crown now? lol

@MarieCoyle I am sure I may have been trained. When I was a bachelor, I didn't concern myself with what, at the time, I would have considered trivial.

OK, it's a good thing you are already taken. There would be a line of prospective women waiting...did Dawn train you to do this, or this is just one of your own habits? Either way...GOOD JOB!!

Yes, I have noticed that...I mean like it just requires sooo much effort to put another roll on the holder. I am always the one who has to do it as well.

Snowy, I hear those rolls are really heavy, and it's a great effort to have to do this...we will have to continue to shoulder our load, and hope their muscles build up enough for this great task.

I think some of us men like to give you ladies something to complain about. Not me though. I always think of the next person to follow and make sure that restroom is ready to use. I should get some sort of reward.

@LadyDuck I recently heard my youngest son, who has boys age 12 and 15, yelling at them to put the new roll on the roller and throw the old one away. Honestly, he had them doing it when they were little, but now...it's like they forgot this important life skill.

I sort of think they go in there and sit down and their minds go completely blank. Good grief, its' not hard, but as you said, it's probably OH so difficult to remove, throw away, and OH, the weight of the new roll! It's just too much!

in spades, you are right! when i was living with my parents, i think i was the one who was changing constantly a toilet paper but who was the one who left it, not sure but most of the times, i am sure it was my father. maybe it is a women's job, in their minds and when they become alone, maybe they'll turn around a bit.

@grenery8 You leave it the way you want it to be if you were going in, not out. No one wants to use a dirty bathroom, ever.
