We called on friends on the weekend. We usually park the caravan there when we take photos at the Blackwood Marathon but this time we stayed in the town. I’ve written about them before. They lost twin girls at the ages of 7 and 10, then lost a son when he turned 14. All three had a rare genetic disorder.
They have a nice outdoor area and this year they had just about finished all they needed to do to it. There is now a small stage in one corner with a grand piano with all sorts of interesting decorations adorning the walls. They have a bar and a giant pizza oven on another wall. I’ll put up a photo of that another time.
They are going to put in a false ceiling above the piano. The wall cladding in that area is an acoustic product which was being chucked out so they got it for free.
The horse section of the marathon goes through their property. We drive through a paddock to get to a hill where we have a good view of the horses and riders.

How tragic, I always wonder how people survive things like that. It sounds like they have made the best of it though. I worked in a setting one time where some parents had two children enrolled there who both had genetic diseases and were destined to regress and die. What a sad thing for them to have to watch and deal with. My heart goes out to your friends.

@JudyEv I can understand the mental stress and trauma they have gone through. It's never easy to lead a normal life after all of this.

They must be a remarkably close couple to withstand the pain and heartache of losing their family as they have.
It can build a bond beyond measure, I can say that from experience.
The set up looks great, I am sure that many a good time will be had there.

Time is a diffuser and that thas helped them to move on. They have sought after diversions to keep them going - that is how life should be lived.

Yes true. Time heals everything ig. Still I feel they do have a void in their lives. Overcoming such loss is next to impossible.

@JudyEv At this point, they shouldn't have had more children. The children must have gone through unimaginable pain. Sometimes, life calls for tough choices.
