As usual, I have to wake up at around 5:00 AM and need to prepare my niece's lunch box. After a few minutes, my niece received a message from her teacher stating that there would be no class today. The reason behind this is that there is a typhoon, and it is signal number one. Of course, the happy smile for a student to wear because of this. I remembered during my school days. It makes me jump for joy for not going to school.
Did you feel this way during the old days?
How is the weather in your world?

We're getting picture-perfect weather by Florida standards and I'm loving it. But, I recall hurricane days. I hated it. Because we had to make them up at the end of the year. Which the irony was, school both begun and ended during hurricane season. Actually, Hurricane season goes from June 1st, to Nov 30th, So we only have about five months where hurricanes aren't a possible threat.

@Shavkat Yes, they can. We get at least one a year. Sometimes more. it's rare that they are as bad as Helene, Milton Ian etc. If you have beach-front property you're at a greater risk, but for the most part they do. Your friend might not have told you. Especially if they wanted you to move to the states.

@kaylachan As far as I could remember, his place is between two hospitals in West Palm Beach. I am sure he is at risk.

When I was in high school, I was constantly exhausted. To keep my scholarship, I must continue to maintain good grades. My biological parents were overjoyed that I didn't have to pay for my tuition at the time. But I need a strong typhoon to help me sleep well.

Quite charming for the uncle to prepare niece's lunch box
I used to deliberately get wet on the way to school as we were sent home if we got wet (lol)

I think everyone of us jump for joy but after we saw the aftermath we just want to take it back because we know there are so many affected areas. I grow up in a house where flood is everywhere, and see my neighbors roof flying, but it is really a NO for me when people have to evacuate... its really traumatic for me.
Flood inside the house is ok, as long as we can still live there and there is no life threatening about it.
