Never knew how important Vitamin B12 until the kind of symptoms I have been having led my doctor to prescribe Neurobion Forte. Curious as I am I quickly browsed to find out what deficiencies will one experience if there is lack of vitam B12 in one's body This link has it all: But here are the symptoms "Physical symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency Weakness, tiredness, or lightheadedness Heart palpitations and shortness of breath Pale skin A painful, smooth, inflamed tongue (glossitis) Constipation, diarrhea, loss of appetite, or gas Bluish or gray-brown nails. Loss of appetite Neurological symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency Numbness or tingling Muscle weakness Problems walking or speaking Vision loss Difficulty remembering things Other symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency Depression Mood swings" I have a few of those symptoms and I have already started taking the vitamin
Vitamin B12 is essential for good health, but some people may not be getting enough. WebMD tells you about symptoms of a vitamin B12 deficiency and how it can be treated.

I had the symptoms as well and had hard time as well! Don't you eat meat?? Unfortunately grass fed diary products and meat help with Vitamin B12! The symtoms depend from person to person! My father has terrible leg aches but he refuses to take supplements as he thinks they are addictive in nature! Even asked me to stop taking injections when I was unable to walk! My doctor asked me to have fish or eggs atleast but I cannot!

You are right about food being a better option but one cannot get it on a daily basis nor does one enjoy eating it on a daily basis Until the symptoms disappear one should go for supplements and later may be eat foods that heal.

@anya12adwi Those who sing the praises of foods that heal should know that.

@allknowing Our food is so adulterated, one can hardly get nutrients from it! Very soon we will be thriving on supplements!!

One reason I don't like looking up symptoms, usually they can multiple things. It's always good when you can start treating with something simple though.

@allknowing I know which sites are good, however symptoms are still general. Take Covid, I know it's a big deal still but look at the symptoms. It has all the symptoms of the flu, colds, pneumonia, a female on a really bad period and a few other sicknesses. It's not so ,much the site as you knowing your own body. I usually start simple then work up to the complicated, I avoid doctors which is ironic since that's the type of business I'm going into lol.

What an important discussion this is. My wife also shows the same symptoms as you have described here. Not all. But some. She had taken 3 injections. A 3-injection course. But may I tell you it's totally useless. Those 3 injections were taken on three consecutive days. But nothing helped. I believe more than the injections and tablets, it'd be better to consume fruits and vegetables containing B12 itself. Wouldn't that be more helpful?

@allknowing You have one point right that we aren't sure to get to eat particular foods daily. And that eating the same food daily is easily going to be tiresome. But then there are a lot of options as well, isn't it? I mean there are veg foods and there are non-veg foods too. So one can eat what he likes. But there can be one problem. For example my wife has acidity problems. So eating green vegetables in this case can be a bit tricky.

@abhi_bangal They should be available to the individual which is not possible always. My experience is different from yours and age is a factor that influences absorption of food. The older one is less is the absorption and that is when doctors recomment supplements.

Foods that heal do exist but these days there is no guarantee that we will get to eat them everyday and also no one likes to eat the same food every day. but swallowing a pill takes care of that Meat and fish is loaded with this vitamin.

It seems that Vitamin B12 is very important for everyone who is getting older, but it is likely that everyone's condition is different.

@allknowing I'm not sure whether this Vitamin B12 has any effect on my mother, because when she took Neurobion Forte her heart beat very fast and her breathing was short of breath.

My father was a biochemist and he taught us when we were very small the importance of vitamins and where we would find it in out daily diet. I do know that people who are vegans must hve shots of vitamin B 12 as they won´t have the vitamin in their diet.

@marguicha Going through that article I came to know that as one grows older absorption of certain nutrients from food is on the decrease.

I knew since I was a little girl. I lacked B12 and I had injections because it's a very important Vitamin. Growing up I did not need anymore. Surely I introduced food in my diet that helped.

My doctor prescribed Vit B for me too and I had a lot of those symptoms you listed. Normally I wouldn't have thought any of those symptoms would be associated with a lack of Vit B.
