Howdy from the auto dealership! No, I’m not getting a new car, just getting the 100,000 mile work done on my car. That will cost 2-3 months’ worth of car payments, then I’m done (as opposed to 84 payments of $550-$600 ) The salesmen can blame Honda for building good cars. Before I walk down to Subway I’ll give you another song (this is song #57 out of 100, if you’re interested…or even if you aren’t! ) from my list of all-time favorite country singles to have charted.
Paper Mansions - Dottie West
Back for her second and final appearance is the great Dottie West. This woman had a hard life, including being raped repeatedly by (and becoming pregnant by) her father as a youngster. To no surprise at all, she had a nervous breakdown later in her life.
Her survival to become one of the great singer/songwriters (never mind female singer-songwriters) of the Nashville Sound era is worthy of a hall of fame induction in itself. Her music put her in the Country Music Hall of Fame a few years ago, long after her tragic death from injuries in a car wreck. (She had directed the paramedics to tend to the driver of the car, an elderly man who’d offered her a ride to the Grand Ole Opry, thinking she wasn’t badly injured. Internal injuries were too severe to overcome by the time they were found.)
She sang it oh, so well. Anything and everything.

Most of her popularity later came from the Coke commercials and the duets with Kenny Rogers.
