A girly visited me this morning

I was starting to brake my car, making sure I didn't scrape the tires on the curb in front of my house. I looked up and spotted my visitor. The visitor was a girl. A female pheasant. Ms. Bird was busy pecking at the grass in front of my fence. I sat in my car and watched her for a few minutes. Such a pretty though very brown gal. She made me think of the hens that used to grace my property. Deer have visited us and tons of jays and squirrels and even chickadees. Never a pretty large bird like a pheasant. Last I saw of my girlfriend she was walking toward the back of the property. Safe travels, pretty Miss.

Ring neck pheasants are very pretty. Shortly after I moved here in 2005, six of them walked up the driveway. I haven't seen any of them since. It used to be quieter and more open here than it is now.

@snowy22315 Male pheasants are super handsome. This girly was a pretty thing but not showy like her hubby.

@wolfgirl569 Seeing the bird was a shock to me. All I can think of is that she came from the lake area that is behind my house- and behind another set of houses.

The only large bird I ever see close to my yard or in my yard is a huge, and I mean huge, amount of Canadian geese. They don't really leave in great numbers in the fall or early winter anymore, how they survive some of the bitter cold days and ice and snow, I have never figured out. Usually, if I see a pheasant, it's on the outskirts of the city, in the spring and early summer, but not around the house.
