Not ready at all

Late Saturday morning, I dressed in my 80s costume (Flashdance black and hot pink themed) and hopped into the car to pick my daughter up from work. We were going to an 80s Halloween party for our last day of zumba class . It was quite sunny out and nearly hot as I was driving. I turned the car radio on to try to find some 80s music to put me in the mood. And so . . . what do I hear? Nat King Cole . . . "Although It's been said . . . many times, many ways . . . Merry Christmas . . . to you" Nooooooooooooooooooooooo! It was/is still not yet Halloween . . . I am not ready at all for this holiday stuff . Are holidays being pushed on us way too early these days?

It sickens me that a bunch of stores have already put away Halloween stuff in the past week and have replaced the shelves with Christmas stuff. What is going on??? The party was cool . . . did zumba to some 80s music and there was a potluck afterwards. I love Stray Cats !

@rebelann Isn't that how it used to be . . . Christmas AFTER Thanksgiving??? Thanksgiving kinda gets mixed in with general autumn stuff it seems . . . poor Tday is sandwiched in between the biggies I guess. Wish you could join us for zumba! We can go for coffee and chili rellenos aftewards ! Yah, it's cooled down considerably . . . it IS rather chilly at night and in the mornings. Brrrr. Is it still warm there like here during the day though?

I think holidays are pushed on us too early. Who wants to hear about Christmas when it's still October?

If someone sang Happy Birthday to us 3 months in advance, that wouldn't make sense, right? So why do this to us with holidays . . . the magic of the holidays seems to get lost.

Unfortunately Christmas music and sales get earlier and earlier each year. It is coming quickly though. You should post a pic of you in your costume! Have a good day.

I enjoy the holidays with my family . . . but I don't look forward to it now regarding my sister. She has sucked the joy out of "celebrating" now - I know what you mean by feeling drained and low. Yah, the party was fun! But many of the ladies also wore black and hot pink . . . maybe we looked like a zumba team .

@grenery8 Big hugs. Yah, family life can be difficult. It's not always easy dealing with parents either. It's a whole complex ball of "things" that have built up through the years and is now at this point. And so we have to do what we have to do to save our sanity. For some reason, negative energy within the family just stays there, doesn't it? Yes, having some joy in your life IS important - always find time to get that !

O,yes, due to green, maybe.i wish i could see you yes, having fun is really important

I feel like my holiday spirit is being rushed. Weather-wise here it has literally only begun to feel like autumn, sort of . . . winter should not be in my vocabulary right now.

That’s hilarious. I don’t like it when they jump to Christmas even before Halloween. Here, we have one radio station that starts playing nothing but Christmas music from Thanksgiving Day to January first, and I appreciate that. But too early bums me out. I’m so glad to see a discussion from you. Keep them coming!

It seems many of the stores have already jumped to Christmas (some from a couple weeks ago already) . . . I can't, just can't!!!! I thought our radio station did that too - who gave them permission to do this now??? Hee hee - I thought of you when I realized this could be a post !

My teenage times were in the 80s. But actually I found some cheap clothing at a second hand shop. I'm pretty good at putting costumes together - and quickly .

I wish they would keep the holidays within the month they are celebrated in. Didn't Christmas music used to start after December began? Christmas has no business being played before Halloween!

The funny thing is many of us had the same color scheme . But yah, it was fun but not as 80s as I thought it would be. We did have a potluck afterwards and actually talked (most of us have never spoken before ).

They must really be needing money these days . And interestingly the holiday clearance items are put away WAY faster now - I don't know what's up with that.
