which "role" do you like more? i realized that i'm more comfortable being a host. i like to give people everything they need and i want them to feel welcome and like it's their own house. and i'm always wondering why are they so shy, why aren't they using this or that and why didn't they take any sweets/snacks/drinks. if i say you can take it or you can do this - I REALLY MEAN IT!!! only to realize that i'm the same way when i'm staying over at someone else's place. on the other hand - my husband isn't, if you say feel free to take this/that - he will. he'll make himself feel like home how do you feel in these situations? btw the trip was reaaaally nice. i'm about to finally go through my notifications. photo: Internet

you went on the trip? how nice, where? men always get cozy, i feel, wherever they find themselves i was okay as the host but there weree some guests that i didn't like. for example, some dropped food and left it on the floor. i couldn't resist and told the person could she pick up and she didn't or she was ashamed, perhaps but, that was the moment i realised that i hope there are better guests than her. i am awkward as guest cause, maybe due to being introvert, i can't wait to go back the minute i come i don't like staying long and according to some hidden rules, 30 minutes is too short

weeell, we visited our cousins that live in one of the bigger cities in the country most of my guest are really polite and they actually clean after themselves - and that's the way everyone should be, whatt? i usually visit people i know and i'm comfortable around, so i don't have such problems

@grenery8 i feel so weird when you're acting like that. hope you're willing to talk things out because this is really unnecessary

Both have their benefits, but I feel that being the host is better because I like being in my own creature comforts. It takes more prep of course, but hey, whenever we have company is usually when the house gets the deepest clean too even if it will be messy in about three seconds after the first guests arrive. lol

that's always funny when guests are coming over and we make the house look like nobody lives in it

Lol! I think you can empathize with your guest that's why you want to serve them. As for me I want to be the guest, being a host and preparing everything is very tiring. Lol!

i guess that’s what it is. i don’t know what kind of preparations you mean when hosting?

@aureategloom You're right, but I don't like to abuse other people's hospitality.

I prefer to host. I feel so awkward at gatherings and parties (unless at one sister's house) and when I host I don't. I LOVE hosting my family Christmas party every year. My niece calls the party the "fun Christmas" which just warms my heart.

awww seems like you're doing a great job as a host hosting can be awkward at the times when the guests are not as open or talkative and you have to do all work

Both have their perks. If I have to choose I would say guest is better.

Good question. I have never liked being a guest and have always liked planning parties.

hahah i understand that. but still, there are some cousins and friends we feel more comfortable around and the ones that we're not so close with. for me, that also plays a big role in this whole guest thing

Definitely host. You are in control of your home and the environment to a greater degree than when you become guest. When you become guest , you would have to be comfortable with the person and the rules and plus you would not have any command over the things. Plus as a host , you can open up and make the people at ease. When you are guest , it all depends on the place we have arrived. Also , we have to be extra cautious as a guest to ensure no damage is done to any existing things even if things were almost on verge of collapse. Good to know your trip wnet fantastic. Have a wonderful day ahead!

you were thinking of reasons that didn't even pop up in my mind i guess we all have our reasons for feeling the way we do. but still - we both agree that being a host is a better option

Everyone's picking host, guess I'll be the only guest visiting you all. I can get uncomfortable around people even at my own place, so it doesn't make much of a difference. I just need to make sure to bring a nice gift and expect a good treatment back, by the host.
