I am attempting NaNoWriMo again this year. I am trying to write a basic outline but it is not that great, so far. I am just making it up as I go along. It is a lot harder now than in earlier years. NaNo has changed a lot, too. You can read about it in their pages. Are any of you trying this year?

I did not hear about Leon. Did it do a lot of damage? I hope your family and property are okay. We had two bad hurricanes earlier this year. They are Helene and Milton, nasty storms that brought a lot of rain and destruction.

@Dreamerby From what I see on the news, India has a lot of disasters and troubles. I hope you and your family are okay.

NaNoWriMo is short for National Novel Writing Month. The website (nanowrimo) is a great resource for accountability and fun while writing a 50k word story. Its totally free too!

No, doesn't seem appealing to me. I remember Valerie used to participate in it though..and that other guy who shows up here periodically DW Davis, participates I think.

There are things I don't like about it but I can use the challenge to get something done for a change. I have a bunch of unfinished stories. .

It is a lot of work and I always run out of steam before I get so many words. It is hard to keep up and life always interferes.

It is a challenge called National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). You are asked to write 50000 words of a novel in the month of November I don't know why they picked a busy time of year. But it is what it is.

This National Novel Writing Month is quite interesting and I am a fan of it. It always interests me and so is the excitement this time too. But due to lack of time and other commitments I hardly find time to reach the target. Interestingly I haven't reached it even once to my satisfaction But if I were to challenge myself for this challenge it would be writing 50, 000 words here on MyLot.

@akalinus Hahaha... You are right. Up to a certain point, it's easy to write. But then it really happens that we run out of ideas and find out that we cannot write anything anymore. And the challenge isn't completed. We lose it this year like the former years. I was going to say this, but you said it before me - I write a lot of words. Because I'm quite active now here, I'm also writing a lot these days.

I have never written the required 50,000 words in former years and doubt I will now. I run out of ideas. Now I write a lot of words here. I am typing somewhere all day it seems.

I didn't even think of it this year! I haven't done it in years but you've inspired me. I have a few story ideas in my head. I'll have to do an outline and character development. :) Good luck! You've got this!

I think you have enough to do looking for a job. There will be other years for writing that much. Or, not.
