Do you celebrate Halloween?

Halloween is a recent celebration in my country, when I was in school we didn't celebrate nor talk about it, but nowadays kids love it, including my kids.
In recent years there are always kids asking for treats or tricks and this year my kids did a little decoration at the entrance.
They have their costumes ready to go treat or trick.
The forecast is saying that will be raining, I hope not as it is such a fun night for kids.
Do you celebrate Halloween?
Picture of my kids decoration, at night it will have some lights.

@nela13 In the ancient times it was a Celtic tradition. Halloween's origins date back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. It was forgotten in Europe, but brought to America by the colonists, who were mainly Puritans and they primarily came from England which traditionally celebrated Samhain back when the Celts lived there.

I have never liked Halloween as long as I can remember.
As a young mother I did take our son out trick or treating while my husband stayed home to hand out candy.
I do celebrate the season of autumn, and add some pumpkins to the decorations as the season progresses.
I will take them all down on the 10th out of respect for Remembrance Day on the following day.

@nela13 No, we have the holiday of Thanksgiving during the month of October, Halloween is more of a day for the children. People still decorate here, and some will dress up when they take their children out, but it isn't as commercialized as it is in the states.

It's a big deal in the U.S. We have a nearby town that has a big parade every year. Another town has a zombie walk. Most homes have decorations like pumpkins, gourds and ornaments hanging. The kids come around for treats.
I remember enjoyed trick or treating as a kid. Hey, who doesn't enjoy free candy!

@nela13 You can always freeze them. I put my leftovers in the freezer I had so much. I always overbuy thinking more trick or treaters will come. One good thing about candy is it has a long shelf life.

I saw lots of kids in costumes, a few decorations, but I didn't celebrate Halloween myself. I was busy with family celebrating a birthday and they couldn't care less.
That's a lovely decoration you put there, must look even better when the lights are on.

@somewitch my son is a teen and he also participates, even though he doesn't eat many sweets.

@nela13 That's understandable. I attended a Halloween party as a kid, or as an early teen even. No trick or treating but it's okay, I had my fair share of sweets with other holidays.

Halloween was not celebrated in my country when I was a child nor when my daughters were children. So I only hide with no lights because sometimes teens come to do more tricks than asking for treats here.

No. because its original rituals and meaning is against the Christian faith.

When I was a kid, we never saw events like trick or treat. It is only in the technology era when the event has been widely known.

Yes, it is a recent thing in Europe too, I think it is more of a commercial thing but kids love to go for tricks or treats.

I was awre that Halloween is getting celebrated in other countries other than in US. WhileI was in US, I have seen children in lovely customes and ringing thhe doorbells for their treat. However, atleast in Asian countries and in India, it is not celebrated. We just had Diwali , the festival of lights and lamps in India. Celtic traditions are actually foreign to us. There could be gated communities , where people might be celebrating but in limited numbers. I have not encountered personally any of these communities. The decoration looks great. Hope they had fun till it rained. Enjoy the day and the weekend!
