It was a ritual in our household to wait for the newspaper guy to dleiver the morning newspaper. It used to be first come first served and that was possible if one reached the gate earlier. The 'hatches, matches and despatches' columns were first attended to and then came the share market. We were into shares and that was important to know which shares to opt for. Followed by all the gossip of the city. And ofcourse the crossword We do not buy the paper any more. The TV, and the Net takes care of our hunger for news.

I remember when papers started their massive layoffs of employees a couple of decades ago, and it has just gotten worse. But what can you do? My late grandmother was the last person I knew who had a subscription to the paper. Progress and all.

My father used to buy and read newspapers before. I missed the days when simple things worked before.

@allknowing If my old man is still alive, I am sure they will be piled up in the storage room. He is also good doing the crossword puzzles in the newspaper.

This is exactly our experience with newspapers too. We haven't had it delivered for years now.
