Red Velvet Cake.

I baked that yesterday (Sunday) because we do not have snacks. But I don't have a frosting on it as I don't usually have stocks recently since I am baking less the past months. But we have whipped cream so my daughter ate the cake with whipped cream. I am planning to buy cream cheese later, but I saw this ermine frosting. Do you about this? Do you know what kind of frosting I can do for red velvet cake?

Looks good still. When I saw the title, I thought of your baking -- and told myself, of course she baked this for sure.

@jobelbojel I need to store more ingredients with me. It is easy to bake when you have ready ingredients

I like very simple toppings, most of the time I use whipped cream or mascarpone (that is a cream cheese). Ermine frosting is a "roux" made with flour, sugar and milk, very thick. It's a great choice for many cakes and you can adjust the amount of sugar you use.

Wow! You know how to bake! Hehe. I am not very skilled at it. The only thing I've tried making was a simple banana cake in an air fryer, and that’s about it! LOL

your cake looks delicious! I never had a red velvet cake. what is a red velvet cake made of? i think it would taste great with whipped cream on it. i really like whipped cream. I am unsure what kind of frosting you can use as I never had a red velvet cake. but i would love to taste it. My mom used to bake whenever we didn't have snacks.

Red velvet usually has cream cheese frosting but I do not have that now. It is usually made of cake flour with a bit of cocoa and red coloring

Some people really love red velvet cake..but to me for some reason it tastes like play doh. I get that effect from certain store bought cookies too.

I think Red Velvet Cake is so tasty. I would use cream cheese in the frosting.

@rakski I think a vanilla buttercream would be good, too. I know when I make that frosting, the kids always say they love it, so it might be yummy.

Whipped cream sounds like a good alternative, and that cake looks delicious! I guess ermine frosting is sweeter than cream cheese, so it might be up to your own taste. I'd go for whipping cream, even if it doesn't stay up for long. Last minute whipped cream when the slice is served then.

I do not frost or ice the cakes I make. It is mostly the one and only date and walnut cake baked during Christmas Red velvet cake seems unique.

Yum. I used to get red velvet cakes for my boyfriend's birthday. But this year I am getting him carrot cake.
