Not a happy morning

Both have been having issues specially since the husband is into drugs They were a perfect couple so it seemed to the world. She has been borrowing my shoulder many a time and I tried my best to see improvement in their relationship. But how can one be with someone who refuses to give up? She was toying with the idea of a divorce and this morning he sends her a mail opting for divorce himself and materially speaking she is well off as he has ensured that she is comfortable. She shared that mail with me and I notice he has been very polite in that mail A sad day indeed

The house is in here name - a lavish flat where only affluent people stay.

It is sad indeed when we learn from couples that their marriage is not going well -- and worst, divorce is the next best thing for them.

@rakski She has handled the situation pretty well in that she has not let that ruin her life At the moment she is in the US attending a wedding in the family but he could not join her as he was working. I am feeling sorry for him as well

This is the first step and there is a long process awaiting her. Obviously the husband knows how unhappy she has been

Reading about anyone's divorce is never good. That spells a lot of negative things. Two people who have vowed to stay together and then separating doesn't give good vibes. But on the other hand, if it's going to give them mental peace, then there's no point in stretching the relationship. And now, what's the use of being polite when this should have come earlier?

@allknowing Decisions like divorce are never quick. And they shouldn't be either. I've heard that there is counselling session as well to try to save the marriage until the last minute. There have been examples where couples have come out of divorce decisions and continued with their happy married life.

@abhi_bangal Here when one partner refuses to go for rehab where is the chance for counsellling?

I guess then the thought of divorce was somewhat mutual. It is sad for their marriage, but good if the split will be amicable. I hope things will be better for your friend - and that the husband can someday recover from his addiction.

He has totally gone out of hand - even womanizing. Good for her but he will be totally ruined.

When he visited last month without her he told me he was contented with his life as he had everything but he did not know I knew about his addiction. Ofcourse he lied to me. How could he be happy with a strained relationshiip with his wife?

@LadyDuck The choice he has made to leave his wife is solely because of addicition.

Sometimes it's not about what they have in a relationship that makes it hard to live with, but how they treat each other in it but some times it's best to walk away & not look back.

It is sad. But then perhaps a little time away from each other , may work in both favor if they are lucky. There should be love for other from both sides for that to happen. The husband should feel a need to rehab himself and for her. People get motivation from different things and for different reasons. If those can be worked , perhaps this divorce proceedings will stop in mid and reunite together. There are many cases like that and there are even cases where husband remarried his ex-wife again. However, if things cannot be worked out and beyond repair , it is best they live their lives seperate and move on for thei individual destinies.

It's sad but I suppose it was the only realistic option at the moment. Things might change in the future, but in the meanwhile your friend deserves some peace of mind. And you too, if she's the one who left you the secrets to keep. I hope she'll get some justice, she might be well off but being cheated on is quite humiliating.
