John DeBacker who is the vice president of the Long Island Cat and Kitten Solution is being credited for showing compassion for an injured hawk that was seen on the Sunrise Highway on Thursday.
Thanks to actions of female driver Deb Oliver who contacted John after she saw the injured hawk, John did call 911 to report the incident to the Suffolk County Police Department to slow down the traffic on the highway.
John was place to take the hawk inside a crate when the hawk was taken to the Sweetbriar Nature Center in Smithtown where for examination.
It is my hope that the hawk will make a full recovery from his or her injuries.

Glad there are many citizens who still care for the animals.

It must have been badly injured to let the man put it into a crate without fuss. I hope it can be made well again.
