Gifts of November

November is a great month for so many reasons. Do you celebrate anything in November? I know three Mylotters who have birthdays this month. November is also National Adoption Month. This is a picture of Amyra, who is now healthy at age 13, but who was born five months premature. She was in the hospital until nine months of age, and in and out of the hospital until she was three. Underdeveloped lungs and a hole in the heart (required surgeries) along with other problems are what she overcame. She was this family’s first gift of adoption. What a joy! I’m so glad my sister and brother-in-law went the adoption route.

Amyra certainly has come a long way for her early entrance into this world.
I didn't know November is National Adoption Month. I was also adopted when I was barely 3 months old. But, my birthday isn't in November

@AmbiePam i was very fortunate to be adopted. I had a wonderful life and never considered my parents as not my "real" parents.

Oh I didn't know that. When did your parents unfold to you that you were adopted? at what age?

I, too, know how wonderful adoption can truly be. My eldest son was adopted. He is a true treasure, and I am not sure why I was selected to be his mother, but I was...I love him every bit as much as I love the other kids. Being an adoptive parent is a true gift, and I am so glad that I was so blessed.
I am glad you have your sweet niece and nephew, I know you all enjoy them so much.

I cannot imagine my life without him. I realize my opinion of my own children is no doubt inflated and I am bragging somewhat, but he truly is a stellar human. A great son, husband, father, uncle, and friend to many. He and his wife have fostered many children along the way to their forever homes. I don't know why I was chosen to be his mother, but I do feel very fortunate to have been picked for that position! Yes, we are blessed, indeed.

Thank you for sharing this miracle. Both Amyra and your sister and BIL are exceptional people. One of my best friends adopted 2 children as they could not have babies. My friend Luis, a writer, wrote a book about the adoption of his first baby, a daughter. He gave the money from the author´s rights to the adoption agency, the only legal one in Chile.

@AmbiePam We are a tiny country. Only one legal adoption. But as that adoption checks a lot what kind of parents the babies will have, most adoptions are done ilegally. And many babies are "sold" to be adopted.

What other mylotters have Nov. bdays besides myself? You can message me if you think they don't want everyone to know. Thank God she is healthy now. Her eyesight is good too. Sometimes premies have trouble with their vision. Adoption can be a great gift.

@AmbiePam OH OK, I don't really talk to Court anymore. She hasn't been on here for months anyway.

They indeed must have two great hearts to adopt a baby who they knew had complications.

That's so nice to know. It is a wonderful story to share, I hope a lot of people would have that big heart to adopt kids even though they are not in a perfect health condition.

Wow, Amyra is a fighter! My niece in San Jose was also born 5 months premature and stayed in the hospital for about 3 or 4 months. Now, she's 17 - smart, pretty and healthy. Just like Amyra, she is a fighter and a miracle baby!
