Have you gotten started with your Christmas shopping yet?

This isn't really a CHristmas issue, but sis has a bday on Dec.2. I will probably have her bday gift and a few other items that I have on hand I wanted to give fam for Christmas. I will have Amazon ship the rest. I do not know what to get sis. I have the Christmas present decided..but bday present I don't know. I might just give her a gift certificate. I think she liked it when I did that before. She ordered a fire escape ladder for the second floor. Any ideas for the person who has everything...and doesn't have room for new stuff?

I need those same answers! Our family isn't wealthy (except for our granddaughter and her husband, lol), but we're blessed to have what we need and most of what we want. It's hard to know what to give at holidays. We also have two birthdays at Christmas. I bet your sister will like the gift card.

I’ve got my shopping done except for my stepmom. For your sister’s birthday, how about an advent calendar? They have tons for adults, and I got my sister, dad, and stepmom one. My sister’s is bath products, my dad’s is Amish popcorn and seasonings, and my garden loving stepmom’s is seeds (she’s a gardener). They have 24 day and 12 day advent calendars for other things like coffee, hot chocolate, sweets, and so much more. I did this last year, and it was funny how into it my dad got (his last year was beef jerky and nuts).

@AmbiePam I think perhaps a puzzle looking like stained glass in the life of Jesus. They do like to do puzzles.

That is a neat idea actually. I had pretty much decided on a gift card, but an advent calendar sounds like a special and unique gift. Plus with her bday being Dec. 2 she can use it at Christmas time. Thanks for that idea. I didn't know they actually made them for adults. I will tell a look and see what I see. Thanks! Maybe if she likes it, it could be a tradition, a different type every year or something!

That is a tough question, I never know what to gift to our son and his wife. We usually give them a larger gift for them as a couple, that seemed easy at first, but it is getting difficult. I have the girls almost done, but they are easy. I just want to pick up some Duplo building blocks when they go on sale. You have a birthday in the family just before Christmas and we have one just after Christmas, well 2 of them, but they are twins, so......

I thought the twins bday wasn't until Feb. I am giving them a lawn ornament for the couple gift.

@snowy22315 No, they are the end of January. My hubs is the end of February, actually on the same day as Anna from here.

@Juliaacv He's in good company.. My mother's bday is in January as well. I am getting her 2 bags of low acid coffee for Christmas..maybe by the time her bday rolls around she will be ready for some more. Actually, I think I am changing it to an adult advent calendar.

I hope that you can figure it out. Maybe something edible or a smell good.

@Tampa_girl7 I wonder if mine is packed away somewhere? If I can't find it, I might need to get another one.

Gift certificate is a nice idea. At least she will be the one to decide what she likes and where to put it

I like gift cards. Maybe because I don't really buy much stuff for myself and certainly very few luxury/unnecessary items. So the chance to spend guilt-free on something is always appreciated.

A gift card is always good. Does she have a favorite restaurant? I love food gift cards. I only had 3 gifts to get; and I'm done with Christmas shopping. Most were gift cards. Have a good weekend.

She does, but they don't go out to eat much. My dad doesn't want to any place. Plus..I don't think she likes driving any more than is necessary.

Yes, I did that a few months ago. I like to prepare ahead of time to avoid overspending right before Christmas. I might not have much money closer to the holiday, so it’s better for me to buy gifts, especially on payday. A gift certificate is a great option! Hehe

hmm i would maybe make/get her something sentimental. like something that would remind her of your childhood or some memories you had together. or something she liked as a child i don't celebrate Christmas, so i don't need to get these presents. however, my mom's birthday is in December, so i need to figure out how to send her a gift

Yeah, that is why I decided to go with an advent calendar as opposed to a giftcard.
