A night on the river

I’ve mentioned before that we have good friends in the village. We’ve been friends for over 30 years and now we live about ten houses apart. They have a very successful plumbing business which is now run by their three sons. The husband turned 77 and we were invited to spend the evening with them and their family on their boat. I guess you would call it a cruiser. It isn’t a yacht but it is very luxurious and 18 of us fitted on it very well. We were taken up the Swan River to the middle of the city where we anchored, watched the city lights, ate and drank before being taken back to the mooring. The weather had been iffy all day but cleared up by the time we boarded. The water was calm, there was very little breeze and it wasn’t a bit cold. Just a very enjoyable night all round. The photo is of the city lights. Perth would seem a very small city to many or you I’m sure.

We were on the river and it was really very calm. But I know about being seasick. It's not pleasant.

If I’ve heard of a foreign city it doesn’t seem small to me. And, I’ve definitely heard of Perth.

Sometimes, if there are strong winds, the water will get quite choppy and rough. We were on the river so there wasn't really any waves.

@judyev to a boy from Larne Perth seems like a megalopolis. I must say that your title suggested to me a rather less than elegant experience than any I’ve enjoyed on a river.

Their first boat was quite small and a bit of a squash if too many were invited. This is about the third at least with each being bigger and better than the last.
