That will be my dinner.
And I have two choices of dessert: One is a special icecream. And the other is the pineapple I still have that can be eaten with cream.
The funny part of it is that the icecream began as an other idea. I always save my icecream boxes to use instead of Tupperwares. But I discovered (when I had only one left) that Anita had been taking them to her house. I stopped her from taking the last one and she said that she thought I did not care for them. SAY WHAT? I thought. If I wash something and put it in a drawer I suppose it is because I want to keep it.
She told me that she could bring them back but I did not want that either. So I started to look for glass Tupperware containers online but I did not find what I wanted.
And then I had A BRILLIANT IDEA!!! Why not buy some ice cream and save the box? Anita now KNOWS that they are mine.
I have icre cream to eat today for dessert..
When I have brilliant ideas I feel happier than if I had just eaten a normal piece of something good. I´m happy with myself
Do you have such moments?

Yes, brilliant moments always make me happy, Enjoy your ice cream, I got my groceries and treated myself to some Berliners with Bavarian cream. Sort of like cream filled donuts,

I know exactly what you mean. I used to buy them when I saved enough money when I was at the University. They were giant. If I walked several blocks instead of taking one of the buses, I could buy one after 2 or 3 days.

I loved it. But I´ll leave the ice cream for later.

My mom always saved any of those containers food came in. We’d have a plastic tub from ice cream to use again, if she had Cool Whip, we’d use that container. It’s funny how many you can end up with when you save them all. I’m glad you had that idea!

I am always saving all sorts of things and many are turned into something useful. Once I made a beautiful rice salad for guests by just cutting both sides of a can (such as a tuna can) and filling it in layers. Inexpensive and yet elegant.

@AmbiePam It looked awesome. I made a seafood rice salad and when I molded it on the dishes, I place 2 shrimps on top.

@celticeagle Tupperware is just a brand. There are others. At first they were made from plastic and now the bottom part is glass. But I just wanted a container to put my cake in the freezer. So I bought ice cream to use the next time I buy a meringue cake.

The container is glass an the top is plastic. BTW I learned by experience that the plastic lid SHOULD NOT be put in the microwave oven.

Maids here think all the time that if someone hires them it is because the the people are rich and throw away everything. In many situations they are right and I don´t blame them. But this is not my case. But she now understands that she has to ask before taking what for many people it is garbage.

I do have such moments. My ice cream tubs are cardboard, however. Lids are plastic and make nice dishes for Bruno or to put under plants.

There are some cardboard ice cream tubs here too. But the ice cream I prefer comes in plastic boxes.

So do I. Unfortunatly this time Anita got them before. But I now explained that and she will ask before she takes anything. I save for her the egg boxes because she has a sister who lives in the country and sells eggs. But I do not throw away all containers. In fact, I use some of them to give away food to my grandchildren if they come for dinner. I used to give the leftovers in Tupperware and they never came back.

@marguicha I hear you re the Tupperware. I wash margarine tubs and fill them with slice (biscuits) to give away. That way I don't have to worry about getting the container back.

I have Tupperwares but they are not high enough to put my favorite cake there. And thr cake has to be kept frozen. I discovered what Anita had been doing when she was taking home my last one.
