Can't do that so I do this

Bottom line: got to eat. Don't want or need more health issues so its best to attempt to balance the good with the sugar. And yes since Tuesday I have been wading through a wheelbarrow of sorrow for my country. Let's see: pumpkin pie made from a sugar pumpkin, sweetened with dates and a slurp of molasses. And fig and walnut quick bread, the flour for it whole wheat that hubby ground. And little round sugar cookies smeared with lemon curd and made into sandwiches. Beet salad, too. Tonight we had pita bread with garbanzos, plain Greek yogurt and dill and chopped cucumber. Keeping busy. I'm about ready to haul the Christmas tree out of its corner! Not really but I guess that's a better activity than making another goodie.

I am thinking about making pumpkin walnut cookies this week. My daughter mentioned them the other day, so I may just bake some for her and for another friend. I love the way the house smells when I bake...especially if it's cinnamon!

@MarieCoyle Agreed on cinnamon. I dump cinnamon into most of my baked goods.

That all sounds wonderfully good! Wow, you/hubby grind your own flour ? I don't think I'll get to various baking until after Thanksgiving - and that's a maybe . One holiday at a time for me or I'll go nuts .

@sallypup Lazy? Oh my gosh - I am lazier and just get a bag of flour from the store . Where do you even get whole wheat to do that? And you do the nut butters too. I am impressed - now I feel very lazy .

@much2say We have had to get creative when it comes to buying stuff. We are currently buying wheat berries from ebay!! I just found a good deal on ten pounds of rolled oats (oatmeal) on Boxed. I never ever thought oatmeal would cost so much. The price of wheat is rather high, too.

@much2say We are lazy as we are aging. We use and electric wheat mill these days. And a juicer to make nut butter- mostly peanut but sometimes almonds or sunflower.

@jstory07 Thanks. I'm kind of thinking about whether I need a smaller tree in my study.

@jstory07 Thanksgiving is so late this year. I love all the glitter and lights on a tree.

I'll be hauling out our Christms tree soon. I'm thinking I might put it outside under the patio this year.

@LovesEverybody We have an artificial one. We don't get a lot of wind so we might need to tie it down in some way.

@JudyEv Do you have a theme for decorating your tree? we have been having so much wind that the pretty leaves on the trees for fall fell off the trees several days and are now bare.

you are so lucky to have the opportunity to put your Christmas tree under the patio! If i did that my tree would either blow away or be buried in snow! will your tree be artificial or real this year?

My mother got out the tabletop tree last year even though I told her I didn't want to put a tree up. I don't know where we will put the tree since we got rid of the piano.
