Went to Best Buy..came home with display cable. Set everything up...NOPE..STILL would not work. Called Amazon about maybe sending back the Computer. They gave me a number to call tomorrow to see if anything can be done to get it running. Otherwise I can send it back. They were very nice about it, but do not really think they understood the problem.
So I am back on the Old Unit using the keyboard they sent with the new one as I got tired of plugging and unplugging it and the mouse. I do not want to use my new Bluetooth keyboard/mouse until I get the new one going. I am truly learning Patience..LOL Something I really need practice on. LOL
We had Burger King tonight. Haven't been there in a while and now I understand why. Food was barely warm. 2 jr. whoppers and Onion rings. Heart doctor tomorrow. Will probably need to see him after talking to the computer people.

Silly question: have you checked to see what input your monitor is on? Most of them have an input associated with each port/display cable connector in the back. If you plugged it into a different port, you might have to change the setting on the monitor so it's on the correct input. Some of them don't adjust automatically.
Another possibility that I see somewhat frequently: if your new computer has a graphics card installed in it, you're not going to be able to plug the DisplayPort connector into the port by the USB ports on the motherboard and get a video signal. With a discrete graphics card there will be a horizontal row of display connectors about halfway down the case and you'll have to use one of them to connect to.

Where would I find out what input my monitor is on? I do have a installed graphics., Here is a picture of the back of my computer. On the back of the monitor there is a place for one of those screw in type plugs with 15 studs, and beside it a display slot.

The screw in plug on the back of the computer only has 9 studs..so the plug on the monitor that I use with my old computer has 15 studs.

I found out how to change the settings on the monitor..worked with a tech today, and it kept coming up that my monitor was out of timing...that I needed 1920 x1080 60hz No idea what that means and the tech tried everything. She suggested getting a Dp to VGA adapter which is what I was looking for but could not find at Best buy..ended up ordering one on Amazon...should have done that in the first place.

Hope you can get it working. I love my tablet and it doesn't need anything extra

I'm sorry you're having so much trouble with your computer. The Geek Squad at Best Buy can probably help. Have a good week.
