Are You Familiar with the Winter Blues? And Do You Get SAD?

Do you ever get the winter blues, a condition known as SAD? If you get seasonally depressed, missing the brightness of the sunlight, how do you deal with the blues that come with SAD? Does having SAD have a great effect on your daily activities? Or, do you just get the mild blues, from the darker days of Winter time?
Do the bleak winter months drop you into a depression? Maybe you have seasonal depression, also known as seasonal affective disorder or SAD.

@Deeporwhimsical My wife has reverse SAD - good weather and sunshine depress her.

I do suffer sometimes. I also have other conditions that add to it (e.g. I have anaemia, the symptoms of which can vary quite a lot). Mostly, I get mild blues for a couple of days at a time. Sometimes, it's longer or more noticeable. I'm thankful that my husband will look after me, make sure I get outside if I can. I always try to make sure I have something to do outside of work. My work is quite boring but, due to its nature, this time of year can be particularly sad. This year, I've noticed that I've not suffered so much with SAD or blues. I wonder if it's because I've not had time. A lot of my spare time has been taken up with volunteering at a local theatre for Christmas/panto season. I've been surrounded by different people, and I realise I'm much more of a social person than I thought (I do get social burnout l, and days when I don't want to speak to anyone but I've actually been quite excited to volunteer, even when I've been falling asleep doing it [em]lol[/em) It seems, for me, it's a case of not letting myself stay still for long enough for the blues to catch up with me

I hate the cold and the shorter days; but I don't get depressed. Have a good day.

I don't get the blues in winter, I love the dark I don't keep a lot of lights on in the cabin so the winter blues never hits my doorway.

My husband kind of does and it can be hard to get him to want to do anything. I just have to ride it out and encourage him. This year has been especially hard because he's recovering from a stroke.

I used to get depressed around Christmas time since the television stations would play Christmas music and television shows. Thanks to the streaming services, I have more options of seeing shows that I like.
