Does appreciating the little joys in life contribute to your own self-care?

Running around with our daily lives in our quest to be financially independent or to be successful in our own ways, often comes with sacrificing time for different activities such as spending time with friends or family. And often in this race, we forget to do one thing- care for ourselves! I have been guilty of not doing any self-care. I have been busy with my work even on weekends and not finding time to enjoy some of the best moments in life. But of late, I started taking time to appreciate the little joys in life. Having a warm cup of coffee while watching the nature or the sky, looking at the animals and pets and seeing the kids enjoy in the park without worrying about tomorrow. These sights ground us, reduce some of the stress and helps in focusing on better things in life than just looking at overwhelming challenges. Plus, the best is we can improve our mental health and emotional well-being. I see these little joys bringing a moment of happiness even on challenging days. Appreciating the small joys in life perhaps enriches our lives and is a better approach to self-care. What do you think?

i definitely agree and it's not like this concept is unknown to us but we just forget. though i don't like to be stuck in a traffic jam but in those situations, i can gaze through the window so, it has good side too. i am glad you did self-care.

Appreciating little joys is a BIG HELP! Because not everyone can appreciate little that's why they are always frustrated. We are bless to learn how to appreciate little things that do good to us, I mean, I think that's why we can its because we know how to be grateful... Gratitude that most of the people forgot - that little thing affects how we look things positively even on the midst of negativity.

Yes. Unless we are happy ourselves, we cannot make others happy. That sums up the crux of why self-care is important.

few days ago i saw a quote that goes "take care of yourself so you can give the world the best of yourself, not what's left" i think that sums it up - self care is important.

I've always been the type to take a breath and smell the roses as they say. However, I don't really consider it self-care. It's just one of those things that's needed to get through the day because life can be stressful.

Yes, I agree. One should take time away from the day-to-day grind to enjoy the little things which provide us with pleasure. For me it's creating a fun music playlist on my computer, doing a crossword or jigsaw puzzle, listening to a podcast, morning coffee with a pastry, looking at the birds at my feeder, and watching or playing sports.
