Statham time!

Star – Jason Statham My Rating *** Genre – Action Run Time – 105 minutes Certificate – 18 Country – U.S So we all like a bit of Jason Statham, especially the ladies. When the shirt comes off the girls suddenly want to go to the movies with their boyfriends and not see a rom-com for once. For the boys he crunches heads so job done. Perfect date night. He’s just too short for a romantic leading man anyway. Did you know Statham, before the movie career, was a Commonwealth Games springboard diver and one of the best at his sport here in England? There’s a clip of him on YouTube competing in the games. You can look at the package girls. So ‘The Stath’ plays Adam Clay, beekeeping his unlikely hobby, who drives around in his pick-up truck doing odd-jobs to pay the bills and keep his bees happy, of course. Then one day his ire is tested when one of his clients and good friends (and possibly the dumbest wealthy black pensioner in America) falls victim to a phishing scam, and not only loses all her money but the charities money she is the accountant for, £2.3 million dollars no less. Instead of calling the cops she is devastated and blows her brains out ten minutes later. Hummm. When the Stath arrives for his payment the door is not locked and he finds the body. But he’s not alone as her FBI daughter (Emma Raven-Lampan) has popped around to discover mom dead and Statham in the house holding a knife. But he’s not arrested as its quickly determined he didn’t do it and the lady the victim of the scam by Americas only all white American scam call-center ,not only that but it’s based in America! Rule number one: never base your call center in the countries you are fleecing, Dubai and Myanmar the choice destination in this decade for phone and internet scams, apparently. The Stath has lost a good friend and its vengeance time, torching the call center and moving up the chain of command of the fraudulent operation, right to the very top. Turns out this beekeeper is another sort of beekeeper, and with his special military skills sets about making things right. ===Results=== With 71% rating on Rottentomatoes I was expecting a little more here, perhaps Transporter and Death Race standard but not to be as it flattened out into yet another man alone Jason Statham action movie. To be fair that’s pretty much all he does on screen anyway and never any real intentions of being a serious actor, or even an actor, action hero his bag and a nice life off the back of it thankyou very much. I believe he purchased Johnny Carson’s old house on the Malibu cliffs back in the day as he had done very well and knocked it down to build a five story monstrosity. He may make B-List movie but that’s A-List posing. It’s a dumb movie but with a solid cast of experience and previous work to keep it on track and the audience attentive, Jeremy Irons and the long forgotten Minnie Driver to name but two. They clearly did not want to offend countries that house most scammers so created glitzy all American one. Statham starts out not killing the good guys but decides to kill pretty much everyone by the end of the movie and by then the plot pretty bonkers, cougar Jemma Redgrave looking rather gorgeous in her Versace dresses near that end of the first female US President. It’s about right at an hour 45 and the beekeeper metaphor just about turning celluloid into honey as hour two ticks down. If you need an action movie this week on your streaming service to see then why not lads? ===RATINGS=== Imdb.com –6.3 /10.0 (138,234 votes) Rottentomatos.com 71% critic’s approval Metacritic – 53% -205 critics ===Trailer=== https://x.com/TheCricketerMag/status/1856394387414237524

this is interesting! I like Jason Statham, not like what you mentioned in your second sentence though. I like watching his action movies.

I watch action movies all the time, and Statham’s are some of my favorite. I liked it even though it was darker than his last, Operation Fortune. That one, with Aubrey Plaza and Cary Elwes as costars was really good (to me). Hugh Grant was a great addition to it.
