I want more sleep

Health experts say 7 hours is enough but I want more. I always slept for 8 hours and more These days I am up early but once I am up I cannot get back t sleep. I come here and start posting while the whole world around me is sound asleep. Even the dogs and the birds are getting their sleep - I am sure more than 7 hours
May be I should count those little naps I take during the day to add up. But nothing like sleeping at one stretch - 8 long hours and more.

I haven't had decent sleep since my kids, husband and I got sick. It all started in early October, so it's been a month of getting patches of sleep. I'm surprised that I'm still able to get by and do my usual chores. I take a lot of naps during the day though and make sure to snub the dishes and scoff at the laundry when I know I need to rest.
My mom (and MIL) said that as we grow older, our night snooze tends to become shorter and we end up taking naps during the day. I've observed that change in me recently. But it's a different story if I've taken an antihistamine at bedtime. That's sure to knock me out.

@allknowing antihistamine is for allergies but can be sleep inducing too. I've been taking antihistamine lately because of my clogged nose.

Today is Friday. I have a off day. I got up, cooked, packed my daughter to college and came back to my bed. It's a gloomy morning with cloud and drizzling. I don't feel well rested. I might take a short nap.

@allknowing I do it some times. Though I get back to bed, I am not sure that I will sleep.

Any sleep you get. Weather it be a long streach at night or something during the day, counts. Addationally, what you want and what you get are often two different things. Your body will tell you what it needs. Listen to it.

When you are used to something and you do not get it that is the time you miss it.

But less than required sleep is supposed to create health issues

I sleep as long as I want. “The experts” aren’t living my life.

As long as it does not bother you even staying awake the whole night should be fine My sis-in-law was one such individual

Do not stress yourself on the sleep. I too have heard 7-8 hours from online media .However, what I recently and understood is everyone is unique and sleeping needs are unique. They could change based on metabolism and physical activity. Some people need only 4 hours of sleep and most need 7-8 hours. There are few who also have a bit of naps in between. All of these are perfectly normal. Be peaceful with your surroundings and do not think aout the numbers. Your midn and body knows what they need . If you really need, you can avoid the naps and have a single stretch sleep. However do slowly as body and mind needs time to adapt. Take care!
