Swings and roundabouts.

You know that journalists have run out of newsworthy stuff to report when they major on the fact(?) that the rest of November is going to be cold in the UK. That’s what the BBC’s leading with and the papers are sure to follow. Temperatures are going to be between 3 and 8 degrees Celsius (that’s around 45 in old money) and there’s the risk of snow. What the BBC omitted to report is the good news story that the tax department owes me £762. Last week they insisted that I owed them £1000.52, and when I fired up the app today to get it sorted they had recalculated in my favour. I was tempted to claim the refund but I’ve decided to leave it as a down payment for what I’ll owe for the current year. Life really is a whole bunch of swings and roundabouts.

I'm glad the tax department ruled in your favor. It's going to be in the 30s F (around 1.7 Celsius) this week with a possibility of a few flakes. I hate this time of year! Have a good week.

I thought I was going to get to put in my two cents that I do not like roundabouts.

Is the UK really going to have all that snow they predict?

@rasmasandra No, but papers love to hype things up to the max.

Yes cold weather in November isn't exactly news. The fact that it hasn't been cold yet and we are half way through November is more newsworthy. Glad the calculation went your way!
