Four Years Ago, Today

It's hard to think it has only been four years since this little guy came into our lives. But sure enough, it's been four years. We picked him up on the farm where we got him and brought him home, and POOF! He ran and hid, and eventually we found him hiding behind the washer and dryer.
I snapped a pic and told him, "Well, just come out whenever you are ready."
At the time we had no idea if Grayson was a boy or a girl and so we decided it was either Grayson or Gracie. Turns out it was Grayson. Can't imagine life without him, and glad he finally did make his way out to accept us.
Now he owns the place.

@porwest We are fully aware they are the selfish lot and that endears us to them more

One thing I love about cats is that we don't own them, they own us. No matter what we think.

They most certainly do. And they know it all too well as well. Little scoundrels. Last night I went into the kitchen and I'd made a marinated pork loin for dinner and had it sliced up to serve on a pan. I went in to put it away and the two of them had snuck a piece and were eating it on the floor. I could have been mad. Instead I broke up the larger piece they had into more manageable pieces. Little sh*ts.

He was definitely freaked out and unsure of his surroundings. When we set him down in the house he immediately darted and ran away and we couldn't find him until we realized he'd gone behind the washer and dryer. lol
Even when he first came out, my wife and I were sitting on the loveseat watching TV and we saw him peek around the corner. I said, "Well, hey there buddy," and he ran and hid again. lol

He's a cutie. I've never been a cat person, but I can appreciate them.

Of course he does, why would he stay there if he didn't?

Charlie and Claire pulled the same stunt when I brought them here. Charlie spent a solid 24 hours under the couch. Claire did like a few hours behind it before she came out. I don't remember Adso having any adjustment issues when he arrived. He was 8 weeks old and I think he just kind of made himself at home right away.

Cats makes a nice pet for the most part, but some can be
very hard to get use to people when they have lived in
the wild for so long, I recued 1 from my neighbor 1 time
cause he was letting it starve & it broke my heart, so I
made it a place outside in a good size pen where the
dogs couldn't get it & I fed it all the food it wanted &
every time I went out to check on it I'd talk to it & gave
it treats that I knew it would like & got it to trust me.
It took like 3 mons B-4 I could find a home for it to
get it out of the pen cause my dogs hated cats, so I
got it back to health cause it was SO skinny & so sad
looking I got it back to health & the person that came
& got it was so happy to have it she thanked me for
taking care of it, & letting her have it she paid me
50 $ for it I tried to give it back but she said NO.

@porwest your right, older animals take a lot of
trust & patients & kindness but stern to teach them.

@2ndchances24 Incidentally, we were informed yesterday that my sister and brother-in-law got a new dog. That makes two, and the new one is 6 months old.

He looks cute and well I liked the name "Grayson" as well. I love cats . They have their wild side/mischeivious side as well as their naive/curious side. Their antics are great to watch. I had a cat once who loved crispy snacks and coffee served lukewarm. He would not have anything less than crispy nor have cold coffee. Definitely it was fun when he was around. I am pretty sure Grayson has lot of tales about his fun times and antics. I can definitely imagine him owning the place and the people. Glad to see you gave a better life to a kitten . Enjoy the day!
