One Last Pull

Well, we got the camper in a couple of weekends ago to get the toilet valve replaced, add some bolts to a loose stabilizer, air up the tires, and have it winterized. And now it's time to pick it up and bring it home. Well, at least to take it back to the storage facility. Looks like the total bill comes in just under $400 which is good. Next year we'll probably have to fork out for some new tires. I am working on budgeting that in as we speak. I will schedule to pick it up next Saturday and it will be the last time we pull the camper until our first scheduled camping trip, when I will dewinterize, in April. Probably going to spend some time in Cape Girardeau at a campground we like there. It's less fun to hook up and pull when you're not really going anywhere fun. But it still has to be done. Onward and upward, and looking forward to the next season of camping.

sounds like you’ve been on top of everything to prepare your camper for winter break.

You have to with these things. I mean, pulling 8000 pounds behind you, you kinda want to make sure things go smoothly.

Yep. I wish I lived in a climate where I could use the camper all year round, but we still have to deal with winters.

What does winterizing involve?

Basically, they pump antifreeze throughout all the water supply lines.

We have our caravan on the market at the moment but haven't had too many enquiries at this stage.

Yep, and looks like we'll take it back out for the first time in April of next year if all goes according to plan.

It’s sort of like when a long vacation is over, and you have to drive or fly back home. It’s a dreaded trip back because you know the fun is done until next time.

@porwest On the start of a trip, the excitement of knowing you’re on vacation carries you, and long drives don’t seem so bad. But at the end, knowing you have to return to the real world, well that makes the trip so much more dreadful and long.

@moffittjc I will say the trip down to Florida is usually a long one. We break it up into two days. We still make it a fun adventure, though. On the way back it's no detours and pedal to the metal. lol Although we DID stop at Buc-Ees on the way back, but we planned to do it that way.

The trip back is always the longest. Our last trip to Florida was like that. The drive back felt very long even though it wasn't longer than the drive down.

Who knows? lol. I mean, Florida is not a trek we make every year, but of course, my future plan is to change that. We really like Florida.
