This is a rule when going up and down the stairs for those who have leg problems. This is applicable to operative or non-operative leg problems like arthritis, osteoarthritis, sprains, fractures and more. So always remember up with good leg and go down with the bad leg.

It sounds like you are a physiotherapist. If you are, we are on the same page.

@rakski As a physiotherapist, we sometimes say "good leg goes to heaven and bad leg goes to hell."

This rule is very helpful for those with leg problems, whether due to surgery, conditions like arthritis or osteoarthritis, or injuries like sprains and fractures. Key to remember: Going up: Lead with the good leg for strength and support. Going down: Lead with the bad leg to avoid overburdening it. It’s a simple but effective way to ensure safety and reduce strain on the affected leg.

Yep - that's exactly what I have been having to do . I've been strength training my legs for my knee - it's gotten a little better, but I still have to be careful. And be sure to make use of that handrail!

I think I've heard this in the dim, dark past but it's good to be reminded of it.

That's very helpful information. Thank you. I am currently wearing a foot air cast boot for tendonitis in my right foot.

I have plantar fasciitis on my right foot and I think I'm beginning to have an OA of right knee. I really need to lose weight
