The present generation will never know what this is all about and the older generation would have wished such settings goodbye. To think that in the good old days some households had these kind of settings. Having a 12 course dinner would be mind boggling We no long set the dining table but use our buffet table where food is kept and one helps oneself. Shrt cuts to everything so to say!!! Image credit:

These 5 star hotel buffets have several courses but we do not have to use all that cutlery

I have never eaten a 12 course meal before. I always eat buffet style.

OM! I don't know where to put all those food inside my tummy, lol! One course a meal is enough, after that I can only eat dessert or fruits and I am so full.

And what about that cutlery. Just a fork and spoon is fine for me

I haven't seen that many different pieces of cutlery set at 1 place ever.

@allknowing I well remember all the palaver around proper etiquette when dining, with different types of cutlery for everything. Even afternoon tea was quite an occasion and very hard work. Still, there was an elegance to it.

But not all are comfortable when one has to use the cutlery that lies there.
