There are four restaurants here that have closed. There are two more that are in trouble.
There are two fast food places that have left. Also there are four that are in trouble.
It is all because of the high prices they are charging for their food. Subway is in trouble to. Their 6 inch sub used to be $2.50 and now it is $5.99 and the foot long is $12.99. For that price you can get everything and make it a lot cheaper at home.
I wonder how much longer that these place will be in business.
It is really sad.

Yes, it's definitely sad. I"m hoping our two Red Lobsters can hold out and stay open. We have very limited places to have seafood; and they are all more expensive than RL. Have a good weekend. Cute picture.

A six-inch subway sandwich has not been that price here for at least maybe 7-8 years, if not more.

I received some Subway coupons in the mail the other day. I usually pass them to a neighbor, but he is gone to his son's for a visit, so I will give them to him later. I didn't really see bargains...a footlong, chips, and a drink was $11 plus tax with the coupon.
Also, people seem to be complaining about the sandwich fillings, that there is just not so much meat/cheese, etc. as their used to be. I haven't had their food in forever. It's not that great, and if I want a sandwich, I can make a really good one at home in a couple of minutes, for a lot less money.

@jstory07 home cooked food is healthy but sometimes we want to breakthe monotony and eat out and besically get ourselves robbed off

It isn’t a problem that is just affecting one country, it seems to be everywhere. Although groceries are not cheap anywhere by any means, it is a lot less money to just eat at home.

I really don't think people will continue to pay those highly inflated prices for very long. Something has got to give. Which kitty is in the picture?

@jstory07 I notice he is wearing a Bell. Nico won't wear a collar with a bell. The first thing he does is try to tear it off. I end up removing it so he doesn't choke on the bell.

It sure is sad. Part of it bad business management and some just prices today. We are having a situation here where they are going to widen a main drag here. It's going to mean some business going and some other options. Moving into the future is hard.

My budget has tightened so much I can only afford to eat at home but I used to buy Italian subs from a good pizza place here, I have been here 7 years, The first couple I got that sub for around $4 now it is over $6 and I rarely treat myself, Oh, yes and the local Burger King had a special of two whoppers at $6 now you can forget that too,

And yet people still believe price gouging was a thing. Ugh. No. Inflation was the problem, and the reality is that restaurants can only charge so much before customers stop going, and you can only absorb so much cost before you simply can't operate anymore.
Beyond that, when you have to pay employees $15 an hour, at some point there is a breaking point, and we are seeing that now.
Hopefully things will get better, but I think many more will close before that happens.

It is really sad, is it because of the influence of inflation or because people's purchasing power is decreasing?

@jstory07 Maybe because the prices are too high, people no longer like to eat at restaurants.
