California highway Patrol (CHP) Officer Steve Reardon was at the right place at the right time in Mission Valley on Monday morning when he came to the assistance of a male driver who was inside of his auto fell down an embankment behind a self-storage business after the driver drove on a highway when the driver lost control of the auto.
Officer Reardon used his baton to break the driver side window when the minivan caught fire as he used a fire extinguisher to prevent the fire that was inside of the minivan as the local firefighters were able to remove the injured driver out of harm's way and take him to a local hospital to be treated for his serious injuries.
The police do not believe that the driver was drunk at the time of the accident. It could have mechanical failure that was the cause of the accident.

That was nasty, to fall down an embankment, then have his van catch fire with him still in there.
A good rescue to save this poor guy.
