A difficult day.

Claudia came to pick me up to vote. That was the good part as I voted quickly and my candidate won. But I discovered that Claudia (and specially Sofía) has been in great trouble this year. I thought that Claudia did not want to have anything to do with me. It hurt me, but I accepted it. I thought day after day what could I have said after the fire that erased years of love. And I did not remember any of it. But today, as she came to pick me up, I asked her "how are you?. And instead of saying "fine" as it is the normal answer to that normal question, she said "better now". Friends, I´m a mother. And I´m HER mother. I know her voice. So I asked. Little by little a horror story began to unfold. Sofía finally gave in to the years of psychological abuse the had had from her evil father. She had all sorts of neurological and psychiatrist ailments. She cut herself. I don´t want to write here everything that Claudia told me because is is too terrible. The only good word is that "she is better". But that does not mean that she is well or even that she´ll ever be well. Claudia told me that they would rent a quiet place in the country for Christmas as Sofía cannot stand any sort of noise. And that only the closest family would go. Not even Carolina´s BF. And I´m out, of course. This evening I talked with Tania who knew but hadn´t told me and she said that the last 3 times that she had come to Santiago she had not been able to see Claudia. Let us hope that, little by little, the circle of love opens and that Sofía learns to trust people again.Fortunatly she is in a special school that lets her go for half an hour a day. It is the only social life she can bear and only because she has a very best friend. Of course I offered her anything I could do. I can lend her money (and as soon as I sell my house I can give her money too). Sofía has been at an expensive hospital. And some doctors wanted to have her at a mental institution at some moment. But Claudia would not hear of it and I agree. She found then special caregivers that meant money. Now they are "better". Please pray for them, friends.
