Oh, if you thought yesterday’s was bad… At least THIS one is more upbeat. Oh, and it’s only two minutes long, so the pain doesn’t last long. Here’s today’s song on my list of 100 favorite charted country songs. Tippy Toeing - The Harden Trio The Browns, they weren’t. Still, sibling harmonies shine. Bobby, Arlene, and Robbie were from England…Arkansas, that is. (Seriously! England, Arkansas! Not too far from Little Rock!) This was their biggest hit, reaching #2 on the country chart and nearly making the pop top 40. They had one other hit that I remember, “Sneaking ‘Cross the Border,” which I wish I didn’t remember. After the trio stopped performing together, Arlene went on to be a “Carter Family” member on The Johnny Cash Show while June was pregnant. Bobby continued as a songwriter, scoring a big hit as co-writer of Mark Chesnutt’s “Too Cold At Home.” Bobby Harden died in 2006. This one is fun and lighthearted, the perfect antidote for the sad songs elsewhere. Tippy Toeing Written by Bobby Harden Recorded by The Harden Trio From Tippy Toeing, 1966 Peak chart position: #2 (also charted #44 pop) Today’s rock song: “Things” After all it’s just a little bitty baby:

Yeah, that guitar is more pop-ish than country. Which goes to show, it's all music anyway. Back in the 50s, radio stations played everything.

That ran through the 1970s as well. Think about things like “Thank God I’m a Country Boy,” “Philadelphia Freedom,” “Jive Talking,” “Fame,” and “Rhinestone Cowboy” all being played on the same station. They were all #1 songs in 1975!

That must’ve hurt your feet from the thorns and your ears from his voice!

It is one of those songs that’s tucked away far in the back recesses of your mind, then when you hear it again you immediately say, “Oh, yes, I remember it!” Unfortunately, that’s how I am with their other hit.
