Getting better

Talked to Tom today, and he was more awake and talkative. I asked him about what that nurse had said that he had something besides pneumonia. He said they told him something about Blood Poisoning. I looked it up and it is actually Sepsis. Not really a surprise as even when he gets a small scratch it bleeds like a big gash would. He just keeps rubbing it with whatever is near him..papertowel, a rag..depends where he is. If I am around, I get a bandaid and make him let me put it on the wound. I'm surprised it hasn't happened before. Is that a Man Thing? Just wipe it and go..no bandaid or bandage? I bet next time he will be more careful. His one arm had a bunch of sores on it from falling. He is on really high end blood thinners since his heart surgery. Xeralto is one of them. Anyway, he seems to be getting better. They are keeping him another day. Hopefully he can come home Thursday.

Not a lot happens on holidays I'm afraid, but at least you know what's going on. Yes, sepsis is easy to get.

Must be..when I was in the hospital with cellulitis I heard on the speaker..Sepsis ER, Sepsis Room? Over and over. I got a little worried as I was there during Covid..thought it might be something to do with Covid. Asked a nurse about it and she explained.

@Ghostlady Sepsis is a very common, but deadly condition if nt caught early enough. At least it's easily treated if caught early before it hits the organs. It's most commonly caused when a toxin is introduced into the blood. And there's a lot of ways this can happen.

When people are with blood thinners they have to be more careful. Take care. I agree that men usually are more careless.

I am wishing Tom the best of good luck returning home from his illness. I guess it is a man thing not to use band aid to take care of a small scratch.
