Put up our Christmas tree

Since we're going to our daughter's for Christmas, I'm not doing a lot of decorating. We put up the tree yesterday and I enjoyed adding all the ornaments.
My tree will never make the cover of Better Homes and Gardens, but it's really special to us. Just about every ornament has a meaning. Many were made by our kids and grandkids when they were little (clothes pin reindeer, trees cut out of paper and colored with crayons.) Some of my favorites are the two blue glass balls that Nathan recorded a greeting on when he was about four.
The oldest ones were given to our son on his first birthday by an aunt and uncle in Illinois 56 years ago! I love the little crystal nativity one that my Grannie gave me years ago.
So many sweet memories that I love to remember every year when we put up our Christmas tree.

That sounds like the tree my mom would put up at Christmas. Ornaments from every age, several handmade by little ones. Diana still does that, but none of the ornaments are from my immediate family. That’s okay though. She has some really cool ornaments that mean a lot to her I have enjoyed hearing about. I appreciate that hers was like my mom’s in that it is a personal tree, filled with things special to her.
Maybe you can get a picture of your tree or a few of the special ornaments for us.

@1creekgirl Somehow, I did end up with a Precious Moments ornament someone gave her decades ago, but the rest are in my dad’s attic. I wonder if my dad would mind getting up there and looking. I don’t want him to fall on the precarious ladder, but if he could do it safely I’d like to go through them.

Do you have any of the ornaments your mom had?

As long as the Christmas tree makes you happy and brings back memories, I couldn't afford to bring back my Christmas ornaments from Latvia, Money was tight and so a gave everything to my stepdaughter. There were even ornaments from my childhood. You know what she did with everything I left with her? Put it all in a rented garage and there is all is still seven years later, Had I known I might have figured out how to transport at least a bunch more of stuff to make myself happy,

@1creekgirl nope no way if she hasn't opened that garage in all these years there is no way she will do it if I just ask for some stuff, I have decided it is a lost cause,

I'm sorry you had to leave your special things. Is there any way you could get a few of them?

I'm taking photos of all the ornaments in case we had a fire or some reason something happened to them. At least then I'd have pictures.

My sister is like that, just about every item on her tree has a meaning or was given to her by somebody. Glad you are decorated up now.

That's nice that your ornaments mean something. We just have regular ornaments. I doubt I will put up our teeny tree this year. Have a good day.
