Do you like going to parties?

My brother is getting married next year. This year, he is engaged, and he wants me to be at his wedding. I have severe social anxiety. The wedding will be big, with over 100 people. The wedding will be in another town. I want to go and I increased my medication dosage. Today I woke up with a severe panic attack. My dad helped me overcome it because I talked to him. But going to a wedding with strangers in another town can cause anxiety even in normal people. So I found a solution. I want to be there to be only a part of his wedding. When I didn't have panic attacks I never liked parties. I am an introvert and I feel better at home. I want to go to a small party, though, if I know those people. I don't want to ruin their wedding and call an ambulance because of my panic attacks. I never liked going to parties. Do you like going to parties?

I used to do everything I could to get out of going to be gatherings or parties because of anxiety. My sister’s wedding was huge, and I had a hard time attending. I always wished I had her extrovert tendencies. Over the years, I can go to big gatherings now, but I just don’t stay long.

I think I will go if I can and won't stay long. At least he will see that I want to be there.

You need to take care of your health.

@dya80dya I do take care of my health. Get myself checked every two months. I avoid going gatherings where there are too many people.

Congratulations to your brother! And I hope you have some fun at the party still. I like attending parties, but it depends on a lot of things - how well or what's my relationship with the host/hostess, who are in attendance or who are invited, when and where is it. Like you, I am an introvert. I can "survive" a few hours of socializing with people I do not know, but after a few hours I need to get away and recharge. I am always one of those who has to leave before the party is over. Or if my family is hosting, I will have to step away for some quiet and alone time.

Thank you! My brother and I don't have a great relationship. He is sometimes kind and sometimes rude. He doesn't understand or support me, and being there is difficult. But I think I will make this effort.

I enjoy going to parties but I always feel a little bit anxious. I understand your point, maybe you can go and stay as you feel comfortable, if you start to feel anxious just leave.

Thank you! Fortunately, the wedding will be in 2026. He changed the plan. I hope something can change because I don't want to disappoint him.

Eh, I might like one, but my life does not allow for it.

I guess it depends on the company, the people. I guess there would be many strangers so I wouldn't like it either and would spend most of the time on my own, in a corner, perhaps on the phone or reading a book, not caring if I looked rude.
