Sleep was only a fleeting and sporadic affair last night, so to avoid disturbing anyone else in the bed I arose at 4 o’clock and prowled around the house for a while. The silent activities I found to indulge in where the usual suspects:
- Calculated where I am with my mortgage
- Wordle
- Checked the deaths page to see if I was still alive
- Scoured the horizon to look for signs of dawn
- Read a French translation of a Japanese book about a time travelling cafe
With all those duties complete I’m all yours again.

@fleura Don’t get me started on tax affairs. With retiring during the 23/24 year my taxes are in a state of flux. I keep getting nasty letters demanding a few thousand £s then when I do nothing I get another letter telling me I have overpaid and am due a rebate. Then yesterday I got another demand for £1250 and one telling me I owe nowt. HMRC app says I’m owed £726. The King’s servants are not doing so well.
