Surprise from my aunt

Yesterday, my younger sister sent me a message on Messenger, asking me to create a grocery list. Our aunt, who lives in New Zealand, is going to send some money for our family so we can buy groceries for Christmas. I was over the moon when I heard the news! It’s a big help for me and my family since I am the only one supporting my parents.
I know my mother will be very happy about it. My aunt is my mother’s younger sister, and she has been living in New Zealand for nearly 20 years. Last year, she came home to visit us, but she won’t be coming back this year because airfare is expensive, and she has been ill for a month.

Yes, she was admitted to the hospital for over a week, and then her husband was hospitalized as well.

That is awesome, I am glad to hear that you get some support from family. Yes, plane fares are indeed very expensive. I visited my parents there in the Philippines last September, and it cost me about $4k. It was worth it though because I had premium seats for that long of a flight, but I don't think I can afford to do that every year.
What are your plans for Christmas dinner? I am curious and I also need some ideas.

I feel blessed to have supportive relatives. It’s great to hear that you were able to visit your family last September. Did you happen to go to the beach?
As for my plans, they remain the same as every year: I plan to visit my parents and spend the holidays with them. We'll be preparing our usual Filipino dishes, such as pancit bihon or canton, turbo-broiled chicken, ham, queso de bola, and fruit salad. Hehe. How about you? :)
