Darn it all, I wasn’t going out today. But it is trash day, and the cleaner sent me a text that my blanket is done, so I piled on the layers and headed out. I have the new tea shipment to sample (smells wonderful), and I have another song to delight you with. Any song with “warm” in the title will be appreciated.
Warm and Tender Love - Percy Sledge
Mercy, it’s Percy!!! One of the greatest R&B singers of the 60s has sadly been forgotten by the masses, except for one song: “When a Man Loves a Woman.” That’s sad, because, as you can hear in this song, he had a voice and a half, as well as more music to give the world.
You may be surprised that I went with this instead of the “big hit.” As I mentioned yesterday, it’s often the lesser-known songs that hit me more than the super successful ones. This is a good example of that. This was his third-biggest hit (behind “When a Man Loves a Woman” and “Take Time to Know Her”). It’s a simple love song, but oh so powerful.
Warm and Tender Love
Written by Bobby Robinson and Clara Thompson
Recorded by Percy Sledge
From Warm and Tender Soul, 1966
Peak chart position: #17
Today’s country song: “Why Don’t You Haul Off and Love Me”
Come on thrill me with your touch:

That's not a good single person song. Very pretty, but I am single for life. Never can get into this. Good music though, at least real unlike all the fake love songs these days.

Sing it to the dogs. “Three dog night” is an expression about how cold it is, after all.

When a Man Loves a Woman is a great song. This one, not so great. So yes, I’m surprised you went with this one.

@FourWalls I’m not sure if you’re talking about me or you here
As you’re definitely the doyen of the music world here, I guess it’s me. Can’t please all the people all the time.
At least I didn’t give you a plain and simple - “Nope”

@Orson_Kart — I was referring to me. “When a Man Loves a Woman” is a classic. I don’t know why this one hit me stronger.
And thank you for the compliment.

I don’t intentionally find the obscure ones, honestly.

@FourWalls it's not the title, it's what's going on in the song.
i thought it would be about man being patient with a girl, getting to know her and everything. but it was... well, quite opposite
